Ravenmeols Lane level crossing is out of order after a dirt bike crashed into it and broke it

After a police chase from Litherland with numerous police vehicles and the police helicopter, a dirt bike ended up smashing into the level crossing barrier on Ravenmeols Lane.

The level crossing is closed until the barrier is fixed.

British Transport Police are sat guarding the barrier.

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: “Due to an ongoing incident the level crossing in Formby will remain down. Please use alternative routes until repairs have been made.”

Two cars were travelling down Hatton Hill Road in Litherland side by side at excessive speeds when the police got involved and started the chase.

The dirt bike was run off the road by the cars and smashed into the barrier.
