Undefeated records maintained for the season for U11 Blacks and U9 Whites during another great weekend of football

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 11 Blacks and FJSC Under 9 Whites Craven Minor League Sunday teams kept up their undefeated records for the season during another good weekend for the club’s Representative teams.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 14 Blacks came back from 1 nil down to win 4-1 against Fazakerley Rangers in the Hightown Junior League Shield competition.  Luca Massey equalised from a James Cook assist.  Archie Ogden then scored from a penalty to give FJSC the lead before half time.  Archie Ogden completed his hat trick with two second half goals courtesy of assists from first Freddie Garvey and then Charlie Garvey.  Freddie Garvey was voted man of the match for some resolute defending.

FJSC Under 11 Whites played away at Southport Athletic Black.  It was end to end football with the two teams very evenly matched. Southport opened the scoring with a fine finish which goal keeper Matthew Crutchley could do nothing about. FJSC hit back quickly with a goal from a Jacob Daviespenalty.  It was nip and tuck in the second half until FJSC began to slightly get on top withIsaac Jones scoring a well-deserved winning goal.  There were some excellent performances from Isaac Jones and MatthewCrutchley but the Man of the Match was Lewis Cregeen who played very well in defence.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks Saturday team went into the match with Hillside with renewed confidence after two good performances in the Hightown league in the last two weeks. As such FJSC started strongly and a good chance to open the scoring was cleared by Hillside.

From the resulting corner Isaac Jones battled his way through a packed penalty area to calmy volley the ball into the back of the net to make it 1nil. As the first half continued FJSC had chances to extend their lead but for some good goalkeeping from the Hillside goalkeeper. Just before half time Hillside broke from one of FJSC attacks and a shot from the corner of the area looped over the defence and Oscar Phillips in goal to nestle into the far corner for the equaliser.

FJSC  had three or four chances to retake the lead early in the second  but failed to take them.  Another counter attack from Hillside caught FJSC off guard and Hillside scoredwhat turned out to be the winning goal.

This was another good performance from FJSC and on another day this could have been a very different result.  Man of the Match was Isaac Jones.

FJSC Black Sunday team went into the match away at Southport FC with only nine fit players due to illness. With no substitutes FJSC where in for a tough game with fitness being key. After a shaky opening ten minutes FJSC settled into their normal game passing the ball around well. With a new strike force of Louis O’Connor and Luke Millington it would take time for the passes to find each other but slowly it came. After twenty minutes Louis O’Connor pressed the Southport FC defence and forced an error. On collecting the ball Louis ran through and calmly finished togive FJSC a deserved lead.

Caden Walker playing in more of a free rolehad a great curling shot saved by the Southport FC goalkeeper before making a triple block at the other end to ensure the score stayed at 1 nil.  With Alex Barr, Leo Fagan and Ben Webster marshalling at the back and some great saves by Oscar Phillips, FJSC went in at half time 1-0 up.

As the second half kicked off FJSC pushed onand a great break into the box by Finley Scott saw FJSC win the penalty which was dispatched by Caden Walker to make the score 2 nil. The endless tracking up and down the wing by Alfie Forsyth then saw FJSC win the ball in a key-areas again and set Luke Millington free with great one touch passing between Louis O’Connor and Luke Millington saw Luke calmy finish for the Blacks third goal.

Every FJSC player worked tirelessly.  The boys never stopped running and left everything on the pitch to proudly keep their unbeaten run going this season.  Man of the Match for sheer team effort went to all nineFJSC players.

FJSC Under 10 Reds hosted Redgate Rovers Green.   The visitors started the stronger and took the lead midway through the first half. The Reds grew into the game and were unlucky not to equalise when the Redgatekeeper tipped a long range effort from Tom Murphy onto the bar . The second half carried on in a similar fashion to the first with Redgate having a few chances but they were thwarted by some great saves from the Reds keeper Brett McKeown who took the Man of the Match award. The Reds created some further chances but just couldn’t find the breakthrough to level things up. It was a good team performance by the Reds which saw good defensive work by Mason Todd, James Hannan and Joel Craven.

Isaac Pepper and Campbell Woodcock battled hard in midfield and Chase Lowen & Tommy Collins were tireless in attack.

FJSC Under 9 Whites Saturday team got underway in the new Spring League at Hightown with a fine performance. From the early stages FJSC Whites dominated the game with wave after wave of attacks.  The opening goal came after the pressure mounted and a penalty was awarded to FJSC.   Henry Williamson stepped up and was initially thwarted by the goalkeeper but Henry’s sharp reactions meant he was first to the follow up and netted the opener. FCN Galaxy then got themselves in front with two goals that theWhites could be disappointed that they didn’t deal with.  Time was running out but with the very last kick of the game an in-swinging corner from Isaac Ade was deflected past the Galaxy keeper for a well-deserved goal to level the scores.  The FJSC boys can be proud of their performances as with no substitutethey all put in a shift with special praise going to Man of the Match Henry Williamson who led the line superbly and didn’t give the opposition a moment to settle.

FJSC Under 9 Whites Sunday team playedaway against a very good Lower Breck team. After tight opening exchanges Theo White broke away and finished into the bottom corner.  He then bagged a quick- fire hat-trick before half time. Jack Haggart, Seb Hodgson and Henry Williamson were relentless in their press and created multiple chances for their team mates. At the back Walter Ramsdale and Isaac Ade were in fine form and behind themgoalkeeper Finley Cregeen marshalled his line, kept his clean sheet and even grabbed himself an assist. Seb Hodgson and Isaac Ade scored well taken goals in the second half, and Theo White rounded off the scoring tograb theMan of the Match award.  FJSC Under 9 Whites kept up their undefeated run with this impressive all round team performance.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks played Southport FC.  It was a closely contested encounter with Southport just edging the match.

FJSC Under 9 Reds played away to Southport Athletic Blacks . The game started with FJSC pressuring Southport from the kick-off. FJSC had some great early chances, but Southport’s goalkeeper made some great saves to keep FJSC from scoring. FJSC’s defence were solid and a great run out of defence from Isaac Ignatowicz saw him deliver a great pass to Josh Robinson, who pulled the ball onto his left foot and drove the ball into Southport’s net. More pressure from FJSC saw SebHoughton deliver a great corner which Adam Tyler-Holland duly converted for FJSC’s second goal. Some great passing between Kian Turley and Adam Tyler-Holland on the right side resulted in Adam Tyler-Holland playing in a great cross for Josh Robinson to score his second at the back post and end the half with a comfortable lead.

The second half started like the first with FJSC battling for every ball. Some great team play from both wings saw Rafi Omar, Owen Edney, Kian Turley, Archie Taylor all come close to finding the net. Southport tried hard to get back into the game with two good attacks which were closed down and cleared by keeper Luke Madutlela. FJSC pushed forward once again and a great drive from Archie Taylor saw Seb Houghton turn and score a well-deserved fourth goal. It was another brilliant team performance from all theplayers. The standout performance of the game with his two goals, great battling and passing went to Josh Robinson earning him the Man of the Match award.

FJSC Under 8 Whites game with Southport FC was postponed due to waterlogged pitches.  A quick decision was made by the two managers to play a friendly at Dunes 3Gpitches.  The boys played four consecutive twelve minute matches. All the boys played exceptionally well with the results of each game being very close.  The final game saw FJSC take the lead and win 3-2.

With some amazing skills on show from all of the boys Charles Fazakerley who had been away for a couple of weeks had an amazing display in goal once again.  Harry Hughes never gave up and bagged himself a couple of well-earned goals. Charlie Ormesher was the star of the games he played in with some amazing trickery scoring a number of goals as well. Elliott Dyment went close on a couple of attempts but unfortunately didn’t manage to find the net. Oliver Parrish and Charlie Vernon also did themselves proud with outstanding efforts throughout the morning. Defensive duties were down to Joshua Gillespie and once again he tackled very well. Man of the Match went to Austin Faraday for his efforts in all the matches played. See team photo above.

FJSC Under 8s Black were away at Southport Trinity.  FJSC had the game under control from the kick off and this was probably theteam’s most impressive performance of the season as the quality of passing and through balls was outstanding.   FJSC took a few minutes to open the scoring and added further goals before half time.  Eoin Follett had a great game assisting four goals from precise passing into the striker’s path.   Alfie Madigan had a fantastic game in midfield and madesome great tackles and great passing.  Alfie Alston worked very hard up and down the pitch to make sure FJSC kept in control of the game.  Southport Trinity had some goodchances in the match and Jarvis Evans the FJSC keeper made some excellent saves. Joseph Woodward’s finishing was top class as he scored two goals and Jack Brown added another five goals to his name taking his tally to over 40 goals for the season.

It was a great achievement by the boys as they extended their unbeaten run and they should be very proud of themselves as their development has been excellent. Players of the match were Eoin Follett and Alfie Madigan.

FJSC Under 6 Whites were in action against a very good Marina Gremio team.  The Whites conceded  three goals in the first part of the match but then played well and for the remainder of the match held their opponents to a 1-1 scoreline with Arthur Higgins scoring.  Cormac Nice played well throughout.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks played out a fifteen goal thriller with Crosby Stuart.  There were some excellent goals scored including an Oliver Jones shot from the half way line and a half volley from Thomas Mitchell.   Man of the match Thomas Mitchell scored a double hat trick and the Referee’s Man of the Match was Oliver Jones who scored a hat trick as well.
