Thousands of pounds was raised for Prostate Cancer with the first ever Calorie Burn in the UK which was organised by Formby Rotary and took place on Saturday 13th November 2021 from 6:00am - 6:00pm
Formby Rotary spokesperson Alan Gibson said: “Formby Rotary is so proud to express its gratitude and thanks on behalf of Prostate Cancer UK for the amazing effort put in by the Cyclists who represented Organisations and Businesses across Formby who are known for achieving that extra Mile beyond their Work and Leisure Pursuits.”
“We would also and especially like to thank YOU, the Formby public who gave so generously to this very deserving cause.”
“We would also wish to thank The Formby SOS Folk Group and Formby Folk Routes in providing a Musical Extravaganza to cheer our riders on.”
“Recognition must also be given to the Formby Bubble and The Southport Sandgrownder Radio for their Inside and Outside Broadcasting of this event and to our Stand-By Medics Olive and George who stood steadfast and available in medical back up to our cyclists over the 12hours of cycling.”
“And most of all the following Organisations and Businesses that went that extra mile in Formby for Prostate Cancer UK in what is now known as the first ever Calorie Burn in the UK. This Team raised around £3000 and burnt over 10,500 calories between them in this gruelling 12 Hour Static Bike Relay Calorie Burn Event.”
