The body of the missing man, Robert Ferdinand was found on Formby beach, police have confirmed today.
Robert Ferdinand's body was found on Friday, October 6, by officers searching the area. The 77-year-old was first reported missing on Tuesday, October 3, and a search was ongoing to find him.
He has since been formally identified as Mr Ferdinand. A police spokesperson said officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.
Merseyside Police has now confirmed that officers searching the Formby area found the body of a man on Friday, October 6, who was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
His death is being treated as unexplained and the death has been referred to the coroner’s office.
Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that the body of a man found at Formby beach on Friday 6 October is that of missing 77-year-old Robert Ferdinand. Officers searching for Mr Ferdinand in the area located the body of a man at around 2.50pm, and he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.”
