St. Jerome’s Primary School in Formby Shines at National Dodgeball Championships

St. Jerome’s Primary School in Formby has made the community proud by advancing to the quarterfinals of the National Dodgeball Championships held in Nottingham yesterday. The students showcased their exceptional skills and sportsmanship at the prestigious event, which took place at the David Ross Sports Village, University of Nottingham.

After winning the Merseyside Primary Schools Dodgeball Championships in St. Helens on February 26th, the team progressed to the Northern Regional Finals, where their hard work and dedication earned them a spot in the national competition.

“What a day! Super proud of you all making the quarterfinals of the National Dodgeball Championships in Nottingham,” said a spokesperson for St. Jerome’s. “Brilliant result, guys, and all in the spirit of the game - honesty! WOW, what a day! You did us proud making the National quarterfinals.”

“Fantastic facilities at the University of Nottingham in the David Ross Sports Village. You all played in the spirit of the game - honesty being number one! Thank you to British Dodgeball. We want to make it back next year!”

The 2023/24 dodgeball season marks an expansion of British Dodgeball's Primary School Championships pathway, providing more children the opportunity to enjoy the sport. While primarily for Year 6 students, younger children can participate at their school’s discretion.

St. Jerome’s impressive performance at the national level highlights the school's commitment to fostering teamwork, athletic excellence, and fair play among its students. The entire community looks forward to supporting the team in future competitions and celebrating their continued success.
