Sadly, much loved and thought after man, Mr Harold James has passed away yesterday

The sudden death has taken place on Tuesday 10th May of Harold James aged 88, one time butcher in Duke Street, Formby and co-author with Joan Rimmer of a newly published book "Formby Folk Tales".

Although Harold left Formby in 1967 for a ten year spell in Canada and returned with his family to settle in Crosby he never lost contact with his Formby roots making regular visits 'home'.

Harold Will be remembered with great affection by many as a very jovial character with countless tales to tell.

Harold was a lifetime member of Hillside Golf Club having become their first junior member at the age of just 12.

He leaves his wife Mavis, daughter Sue and son Nick as well as his beloved grandchildren and great grandchild and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Due to a change in circumstances there will now be a funeral service at St. Luke’s Church. More details to follow.
