A large police presence in #Formby on Tuesday evening sparked concern among residents, as six armed response vehicles were seen racing through the village on blue lights.
Contrary to some reports circulating on social media, officers were not seen carrying machine guns at Formby Train Station. However, armed units were deployed in response to a serious incident that began near the station and concluded at a nearby fast-food restaurant.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that the incident began at around 5:25pm on Tuesday 15th April, when officers received a report that three males were causing criminal damage to a property near Formby Railway Station. It was also reported that the suspects may have been armed, prompting the swift deployment of armed officers to the scene.
Shortly after, officers located the suspects at McDonald’s in Formby, where they were arrested and a crowbar was recovered.

The drive-through was temporarily closed, and the car park was cordoned off for approximately 45 minutes while police dealt with the situation.
A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both from Kirkdale, and a 14-year-old boy from Walton were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. All three have since been released on bail, pending further investigation.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has any information, to come forward.
