Over 1000 new homes in Formby but Council hasn’t sought any money towards education from developers
Dear Formby Bubble:
Over 1000 new homes built in Formby but Sefton Council hasn’t sought any money towards education for the area from developers from past or future developments, claiming that school capacity is fine.
Instead local schools are reliant on the generosity of parents for investment in play areas and school facilities are becoming second rate compared to those elsewhere in the borough.
Equally, the Council and our local councillors cannot confirm they have spent a single penny of the New Homes Bonus monies which was intended for communities that accommodate growth.
Formby Parish Council has confirmed that Sefton Council started the process of introducing a CIL policy and then withdrew it when they realised how much of the money would have to come to Formby and Maghull where the majority of the new homes are being built.
Meanwhile our council tax, Mayoral precepts increase and local representatives on Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council and the local MP Bill Esterson seem unable or unwilling to do anything about this and simply say it is down to central government cuts.
Yes, it is true those cuts have hurt but it is also true decisions are being made at a local level that are to the detriment of our children in Formby.
