Outstanding achievements of students in Formby High School GCSE Results today after such a hard year

Formby High School is delighted to share the outstanding achievements of our students in their GCSE qualifications this summer after such an unusual year.

William Halsey, US Naval Commander who served in the Pacific region during World War Two, said: “Following the cancellation of examinations, students completed in-class assessments across all their subjects. It was their success in these, alongside their performance in coursework tasks in practical subjects, that has resulted in such good GCSE results today. Our Year 11 students should feel proud of all they have achieved and, more importantly, the very positive manner in which they have conducted themselves, and we wish them all the very best for the next stage of their education.”

“There are no great people in this world, only great challenges which ordinary people rise to meet”. Confronted by an unprecedented challenge throughout their GCSE studies, our Year 11 students have demonstrated commitment, determination and resilience in abundance, and have been rewarded with exceptional GCSE grades that reflect their hard work and endeavour.”

“In doing so they have demonstrated their extraordinary capabilities and potential for even

greater success in the future.”

‘Determined to Achieve’

Fiona Grieveson, Chair of Governors, said: “The Governing Body never cease to be inspired by the young people of FHS who rise to the challenges they face with real determination. This group of young people receiving their results today should feel especially proud of their accomplishments which have been achieved in the face of exceptional challenge this year. We hope to see many of the students return to FHS Sixth Form in September and we look forward to continuing to support and share their successes.“

”Whatever their next steps may be, the Governing Body wishes every single student to know that the school is immensely proud of them and wishes them continued success and happiness in the future.”

Mr Mackenzie, Headteacher, commented: “Today’s success has been a collective effort, with hard-working students, supportive parents and committed teachers coming together to deliver quite brilliant GCSE results. Well done to everybody concerned! As Headteacher, I have learned a huge amount about the resilience and determination of our school community during the last 18 months. The approach of our Year 11 cohort to their GCSEs is a shining example of this resilience and determination, and the students have been rewarded with exactly what they deserve.”
