On the hottest day of the year so far, fire crews attended numerous fires lit by arsonists in Formby
Firefighters were called to Formby Beach on Tuesday 30th March following reports of a number of fires on the sand dunes.
A spokeswoman from Merseyside Fire & Rescue said: “Crews were called shortly before 7pm. One fire engine attended. On arrival crews found two small fires on the beach which they quickly extinguished.”
“Whilst dealing with this incident, further reports were received of a bonfire on land off Montagu Road. A second fire engine was sent to this incident, where crews found a fire approximately 1m x 2m consisting of twigs and branches.”
“Firefighters used pacliders, beaters and a spade to extinguish the fire.”
