National Trust Victoria Road car park finally opens on Saturday 5th February after Storm Arwen
National Trust Victoria Road car park finally opens on Saturday 5th February after hundreds of trees were damaged or fallen during Storm Arwen.
A spokesperson for National Trust Formby said: “We're delighted to be re-opening the Victoria Road car park and toilets on Saturday 5 February.”
“Popular areas near to the car park have been made safe but tree safety work continues in the woodlands.”
“Please use the car park to access the dunes and beach for now. Thank you.”
The very busy car park was closed after #StormArwen hit our coast on 26th November last year.
After the storm, the National Trust said: “Both car parks remain closed for safety reasons. Recent storms have caused a large number of trees to become damaged and unstable throughout the woodlands. The team are working hard to make these trees safe.“
“We’re sorry for any impact this may have on your plans to visit.”
“Victoria Road car park and toilets will remain closed until at least early January. A number of hanging trees around the woodland car park and popular paths still need to be made safe. The recent stormy weather has also caused significant flooding in the beach car park.”
