National Trust issue a warning to take care if visiting Formby beach at Victoria Road
The National Trust Formby have issued a statement which recommends that visitors avoid going to the beach at Victoria Road for a few days and instead, use the Boardwalk at Lifeboat Road instead. This is because the high tides will expose the rubble which can be quite treacherous.
A spokesperson from National Trust said: "Take extra care at Victoria Road."
"Due to recent high tides last weekend and over the next few days, natural coastal change is exposing more of the old construction rubble at the Victoria Road walk over."
"The high tides have also chipped away at the sand dunes creating a step onto and off the beach in this area."
"The tides won’t be as high next week so the team will assess the area and share updates on our social media."
"In the meantime we recommend heading to Lifeboat Road car park and using the boardwalk there to get on to the beach."
"To find out more about the rubble and how we’re proposing to remove it and restore rare sand dune habitats at Victoria Road click here"
"Thank you for your support and understanding."
High tides next few days.
"We're expecting some very high tides over the next few days, right in the middle of the day. There'll be very little beach for you to enjoy for an hour or so either side of high tide, with the sea reaching right up to the dunes."
🌊Tuesday 13 February
High tide 1.13pm 8.87 metres
🌊Wednesday 14 February
High tide 1.58pm 8.45 metres
"High tides also bring Formby's special shoreline birds closer. You're welcome to watch from a far but please don't disturb them. Many are taking a break in the middle of long migratory journeys."
"You can help them rest and conserve their energy by not walking towards or through them and keeping dogs and horses away from flocks. Thank you for your support."
