Much loved Satterthwaites bakery now have new outlet in Formby after sad closure of The Bakehouse

The Bakehouse Cafe in Formby closed its doors last Saturday. This beloved small business was known for offering the delicious cakes and pastries from local bakers Satterthwaites.

Owner Cathy Smith said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of The Bakehouse.”

“Due to a number of uncontrollable factors, including high rent, increased food costs and increased wages coupled with family commitments following a bereavement, we are no longer able to sustain the operation of our business.”

“We want to express our sincere gratitude and support over the last few years. It has been a pleasure serving you all and we have enjoyed forming relationships with all our special customers.”

“Thank you, from all the team at The Bakehouse.”

We are all very sad to see the Bakehouse close and wish the staff all the best for the future.

Satterthwaites have now sourced another local business outlet to continue selling their products.

Marc-elliott Evans from The Lunch Hour (opposite the Police Station) said: “I am contacting you due to the unfortunate closure of The Bakehouse in Formby village. Satterthwaites have requested that we stock their produce to enable people of Formby to still be supplied with it."

"We are stocking Sausage Rolls, Pork Pies, Chorizo Pork Pies, Pork and Black Pudding Pies, Cornish Pasties along with various cream cakes and bread.”

“The Lunch Hour will also be opening on Saturdays from 9:30am till 1pm just supplying bakery products for everybody.”

The Lunch Hour Caterers can be found at 54 Church Road in Formby.
