Major RTC on Formby Bypass involving a police vehicle. Bypass completely closed southbound

A major road traffic collision (RTC) has occurred on the Formby Bypass southbound, near the Shell garage and the entrance to Ince Woods. The incident involves two overturned vehicles, including a police Land Rover and a red car, near the Starbucks garage.

As a result, the Formby Bypass (A565) heading towards Ince Woods and Liverpool Road (east) is completely closed at the Liverpool Road roundabout. Emergency services are currently on the scene, and traffic towards Crosby is at a standstill. All traffic is being diverted either back to Formby via Liverpool Road or towards Tesco.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, as the bypass is expected to remain closed for several hours. We hope everyone involved is okay.
