Major Police Incident on Altcar Road which is closed in both directions

UPDATE:

A spokeswoman from Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: “Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Altcar Road, Formby, on Thursday 22nd April.”

“Crews were alerted at 4.21pm and on scene at 4.25pm. Two fire engines attended as well as the search and rescue team.”

“On arrival crews found three vehicles had been involved in a collision. One person was still inside one of the vehicles.”

“Firefighters and paramedics assisted the person out of the vehicle. They were then taken to hospital for further assessment.

Fire crews left the scene at 5.48pm.”

UPDATE from Merseyside Polic spokesperson: “Two cars involved in an RTC on Altcar Road in Formby with one person suffering non serious injuries.”

“Merseyside Police were called at 16:12hrs along with Ambulance and Merseyside Fire and Rescue.”

Police closed the road in both directions which caused major delays at peak hour.

The Air Ambulance also landed at the scene but did not take any casualties and has just left the scene at 5:55pm.
