Living in North West, you’re 25% more likely to develop cancer than anywhere else in UK says NWCR

Formby Rotary Club recently had a visit from Tess McGrath from North West Cancer Research. She gave a very interesting talk on the work that the charity does in the North West.

North West Cancer Research is an independent charity dedicated to putting our region’s cancer needs first.

Tess left us with the following piece of information and asked us to forward it on to our community.

Tess said: “Living in the North West, you’re 25% more likely to develop cancer than anywhere else in the U.K, so NWCR are focussed the types of cancer that most affect us and have a huge impact on our region. Through funding pioneering research and education, we strive to tackle the causes, improve the care and find a cure.”

Tess stressed the importance of folk being aware of new symptoms and following this up with a GP consultation. The sooner a cancer is diagnosed the better the chances of treating it successfully.

Further information on symptoms, help and support can be found at www.nwcr.org.uk
