Lifeboat Road boardwalk OPEN
Great news, the repairs to the boardwalk at Lifeboat Road have been completed ahead of schedule. This important access route is now open and safe for you to use.
The boardwalk had to be closed for safety reasons back in April due to the damage caused by storms and high spring tides.
Although the damage didn’t look like much on the surface, unfortunately the structural support posts were no longer sound and needed the attention of specialist joiners.
Thank you for your support and patience. Lots happens behind the scenes to repair such a unique structure like the boardwalk. From assessing the damage, mapping the repairs needed, confirming what repairs the team can make, prioritising this work around existing tasks and finding additional funding to sourcing materials and getting time slots with busy contractors.
Thank you also to the regular volunteers who helped the rangers with the repairs.
