Last Saturday was the best Inter Club session of the season so far for Formby Junior Sports Club

Last Saturday was the best Inter Club session of the season so far. There was a very good attendance, lots of new members, lively coaching and an enjoyable match for everyone.  All five teams playing in the Hightown League won their matches and all FJSC’s new teams this season continue to improve.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 15’s had a very good 5-1 win against Quarry Green in the Hightown Junior League.  After a slow start FJSC took the lead when Taj-Deen Abdulai scored after twenty-five minutes.  Archie Ogden soon doubled the lead.  In the second half two goals were scored by Alfie Holden and Taj-Deen Abdulai was on target again with his second goal of the match.Man of the Match was Dylan Madeley who had a solid performance in defence and then in midfield.

On Sunday FJSC Under 15’s with a depleted squad played River Juniors in the Tuebrook JFL and succumbed to a 5-1 defeat. Cole Heron scored a consolation goal.  Goalkeeper Jack Guy made a string of outstanding saves.  Man of the Match for his nonstop running was Berat Ulusoy.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday team were up against a really good Ormskirk West End team.  After going 1 nil down FJSC battledhard to go 2-1 up through Ben Harris and WillMadutlela. Ormskirk equalised for a 2-2 scoreline but then the summer fitness sessions kicked in.  Ben Harris gave FJSC the lead only for Ormskirk to level again.   Ben Harris then completed his hat-trick and Reuben Burkepopped up to score for a final 5-3 win.

Goals only make up half the story. The engine room of Eoin Dwyer, Oskar Wood, HenryWynne, Jenson Heron, Lucas Lewis and JoeTucker was phenomenal and the boys weredisciplined in their movement and positioning. Harry Redhead and Reuben Burke really stretched the game and Ben Gregory kept it cool at the back. Special mentions to a returning Finley Heywood and debutant EvanMeehan who didn’t look out of place in a tough game to come in to.

The Bike Repair Shop Formby Player of the Match was shared by the hat-trick hero Ben Harris and the excellent Will Madutlela who both shone in a real team performance.

The FJSC Under 13 Blacks were back in action on Sunday but, with the day before anepic battle lingering and tired legs, the teamjust couldn’t get out of first gear. It was not for the lack of trying. Massive thanks to FabianReilly for standing in as keeper and pulling off some worldies in the second half. TheMillennial Scaffolding Ltd. Player of the Match was Harry Redhead who capped off a busy performance with a consolation goal.

FJSC Under 13 Whites had a very close match with Southport and Ainsdale Red. With a few boys missing the game through illness the eleven players battled hard and played some really nice football on the ground and created plenty of chances. Patrick Bodziany with a well-placed finish equalised after S and A had taken the lead.  Patrick then provided a great cross and after the keeper parried it, FranekBanas was in the right place at the right timeto score with a nice poacher’s finish. It was abrilliant effort from each of the boys but with no substitutes available the boys tired a bit and S and A went on to win 4-2. A special mention goes to Luke Greenbank who ran none stop, box to box, all game.  Man of the Match wasPatrik Bodziany.  See the photo above of the FJSC Under 13 White squad.

FJSC Under 12 White played at Deansgate against Southport FC Yellow in the Craven Minor League. FJSC came quickly out of the blocks scoring early with a well taken finish from Zac Hooson-Jones. FJSC looked particularly threatening from corners with Nick Kostakis scoring direct from the kick.Gregory Houghton’s well worked corner allowed Matthew Crutchley to poke homeanother goal. There was another neat finish from Zac Hooson -Jones before he secured his hat-trick from the penalty spot just before half time for a 5 nil scoreline.

Southport started the second half brightly with FJSC being sloppy in possession and some strong defending from Jacob Underwood was needed to keep Southport out. FJSC found their rhythm again as the half developed with further goals added from Archie Marron, Gregory Houghton and two more from Man of the Match Zac Hooson- Jones.

FJSC Under 12 Black welcomed back Ben Webster for his first game  after breaking hisarm in training. FJSC faced Selta Rangers in the final group stage match in the Hightown League. A fast start by the team saw them take an early 3-0 lead with goals from Finely Scott, Isaac Jones and an own goal. Selta Rangers were then reduced to eight men.

A brilliant performance from Alfie Forsyth in defence saw Selta restricted in their chances but the odd time they did break through Oscar Phillips was on hand to make the save. With Charlie Richardson, Ellis Coyne and Ralph Renton pulling the strings, Isaac Jones added another two goals to complete his hat trick. Finley Scott adding three more goals to see his total move to four for the game. Ben Webster then scored a great goal in what was his first game of the season. Louis O’Connor and Caden Walker added a goal each to take the final score to 12 nil a result which sees FJSC enter their fifth consecutive season in the Premier League. Joint Players of the Match were Alfie Forsyth and Finley Scott.

FJSC Under 12 Black Sunday team came into the game with Bootle FC on the back of fivegood results but struggled to get a foot hold in the game. The first ten minutes saw both teams try and gain control in midfield without either winning. After fifteen minutes FJSC took the lead after a great instinctive shot from Ben Webster to make it 1 nil. This brought FJSC into life and Isaac Jones scored again to make it 2-0 after beating the keeper to a great through ball by Ellis Coyne. Bootle then fought back to make it 2-1 after battling well to win the ball back from the FJSC defence. After a number of corners for FJSC, Louis O’Connor managed to pick out Ellis Coyne whose bullet header made it 3-1. Again Bootle FC fought back and scored to make it 3-2 after good passing and catching a FJSC on the back foot. Just before half time Ellis Coyne scored to make it 4-2 after another good corner from Louis O’Connor.

The second half continued much like the first half and Bootle FC made it 4-3 after FJSC looked to settle after a few substitutes. Finally great footwork from Charlie Richardson made it 5-3 to FJSC after close control and a finish into the bottom corner. There was a great performance from Man of the Match Oscar Phillips who kept FJSC ahead by making a number of good saves in a thrilling match.

FJSC Under 11 Whites Saturday teamcompleted the preliminary round in Hightown League with their third win in three games. The team made a great start and never looked back. The goals were shared, with a hat trick for Andreos Mingas. Kayden Watters, Zac McHugh and Zac Cooper scored two goals each and Clayton Connolly was also a scorer. Quinn McAuley and Timmy Richards were solid at the back and was supported by EdgarJohnson in goal. Josh Halpin kept things ticking over in midfield to round off a great team performance.

FJSC Under 11 Whites lost their first Sundaymatch this season against a good Southport Trinity team.

FJSC Under 11 Black Saturday team produced a strong team performance against ClaybrowJFC and with a goal each from Joseph Kenyon, Tom Murphy and Finn McDerbyseeing the team edge a good match. The defence was solid and there were some great saves made by Albie Graham in goal.

FJSC Under 11 Black Sunday team produces a very impressive display against Soccer 11 Sports Bayern.  Harley Evans and Finn McDerby were Joint Players of the Match after they both scored hat tricks.  Olivere Hall-Gleeson scored a brace and Jacob Holton was also on the scoresheet.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks visited Southport Trinity Blue.  For the first fifteen minutes the match was very even with chances at both ends until Trinity managed to break down the FJSC Under 10 Blacks defence. It was a hardfought game with numerous chances but FJSC found the outstanding Southport Trinityunbeatable.  Man of the Match was awarded to Olly Stinson for his excellent tackling.

FJSC Under 10 Gold played a well organised Lower Breck team in an away fixture. The team showed marked improvement from last week, putting in a great performance with tremendous effort from all players. At half-time, the match was still competitive, reflecting the team's enhanced showing.

Key positives included better positional play, diligent tracking back, and increased overall effort across the pitch. These improvements kept the team in contention for much of the first half. However, there are still areas for development. The team needs to focus on making stronger tackles and improving the accuracy of their passing. As the match progressed, fatigue became a factor, allowing the opposition more time and space to play, particularly in the latter stages.

Mason Davies, the latest signing, stood out as the player of the match, showcasing boundless energy throughout the game. His sharp passing and excellent all-around play were instrumental in the team's improved performance. Overall, while the result may not have gone in the team's favour, the significant progress shown provides a solid foundation for future matches.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks were in action at home against Southport Trinity Black. From theeventual score line you’d be forgiven for thinking this was a very one sided affair, but although Southport Trinity were the stronger side overall, the newly formed FJSC U9 Blacks were unlucky not to have a handful more goals on the board. The Trinity goalkeeper made some excellent saves to resist several moments of strong pressure from FJSC, with all players throwing their hat in the ring for the Man of The Match accolade.  Both Oliver Beresford and Daniel MacArthur showed superb composure with their goals, and it is clear this team is improving week on week. It can only be a matter of time before they are able to chalk up their first win.  Well done boys! Keep going!

FJSC Under 8 Black played at home against an organised Southport Hesketh.  After going 1 nil down, Isaac Murphy came off the bench and after making a mazy run he found the back of the net for his first competitive goal with the Blacks.

Southport took the lead again for the second time during a competitive first half but fortunately the Blacks won a free kick just outside the box which Sam O’Brien skilfully converted to level things at 2-2 going into the second half.  Despite the Blacks best attempts in the second half the boys couldn’t keep back a strong Southport Hesketh side.  There was some great defending and all-round tenacity from Seb Downes which earned him the Man of the Match.

FJSC Under 7 Black came up against a very good Southport and Ainsdale Red team. The boys never stopped trying though and continued to push right up until the last whistle. FJSC could have scored at least three more goals if it wasn't for some great saves by the S and A goalkeeper. Ollie Jones and Harry Brown both scored with great finishes.  Man of the Match was Harry Brown who never stopped running and always trying to create goals. Teddy Marron went in goal for thirtyminutes and pulled off some great saves.
