It was football fun in the sun at Formby Junior Sports Club last weekend.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 13 Whites won their second match of the season against second in the Championship Division Southport and Ainsdale Reds.  It was an amazing performance from every player to gain a 4 nil victory and also to keep a first clean sheet this season. Luke Greenbank grabbed a hat trick using his pace to get in behind the S. and A. defence and finishing neatly on three occasions. Franek Banas also scored a finegoal after another speedy run from LukeGreenbank down the wing.

Every single player was immense and it was hard to pick a Man of the Match as each player worked tirelessly all game.  A special mention to Finley Heywood who was a rock at the back and also Patrick Bodziany who played on despite an injury as the team had no substitutes to make a change.  Man of the Match had to go to the hat trick hero LukeGreenbank.  All eleven boys did themselvesproud.  Also well done to team manager Andy Hyslop on doing such a great job with the team as the boys continue to improve.  See theteam photograph above of the Under 13 Whites.

FJSC Under 15 Blacks came up against a very resilient Churchtown Athletic.  After ten minutes FJSC broke the deadlock with a goal scored by Freddie Garvey from twenty yards.  Luca Massey hit the post from a penalty in the second half before an assist by Charlie Garvey gave Archie Ogden the opportunity to double the lead ten minutes from the end.

On Sunday FJSC Under 15 Blacks lost 9-4 in the Tuebrook League to Townsey Colts after conceding three goals early on.  It was a below par team display.  Taj-Deen Abdulai scored with a twenty-five yard effort.  Archie Ogden was also a scorer in the first half.  Man of the Match Thomas Prior scored two second half goals.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday team won 4-1 against Maghull Yellow.  It was a bit of a scrappy affair but the result was impressive. A boggy pitch meant that everyone struggled to get the usual passing game going. A BenHarris goal before half time proved to becrucial. The opposition scored in the first minute of the second half but FJSC responded immediately with two goals from Ben Harris again and with a cool penalty dispatched by Lucas Lewis. A wonder goal from Reuben Burke made it 4-1 and the Blacks kept their composure and snuffed out danger as Maghull tried hard to stage a comeback.   Man of the Match was Connor Howells.  The result gives the Under 13’s a second place finish.

On Sunday FJSC Under 13 Blacks had a 6-1convincing win against an improved Southport Hesketh. There were five different scorers.  Fabian Reilly who had an outstanding match scored twice and there was one goal each for Ben Harris, William Madutlela, Jenson Heron and Harry Redhead.   Man of the Match was Eoin Dwyer.

It was always going to be a difficult task for FJSC Under 12 Whites with Southport and Ainsdale just needing a point to be crownedChampionship Division winners. S. and A. got off to a good start with their dangerous winger opening the scoring before he assisted in setting up the second.

The second half was a tighter affair with FJSC defending a bit deeper to negate the pace of S. and A. and having the benefit of the wind. Archie Marron scored a deserved goal for a 1-2 score line firing into the top corner from the edge of the box . Both teams created additional chances and FJSC nearly nicked a draw with a late goalmouth scramble but it wasn’t to be. Congratulations to S. and A. on their league title.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks started this game on the front foot against Altown United and it  didn’t take long before Charlie Richardson latched onto a through ball to finish to make it 1 nil. Throughout the first half, FJSC played some great football and pushed for a second goal. An excellent curling effort from outside the box by Isaac Jones found the top corner past the outstretched reach of the Altownkeeper to make it 2-0.

A  good goal scored by Altown cut the deficit to 2-1 but from the restart FJSC powered up the other end and a thunderbolt from Charlie Richardson saw FJSC restore their two goal lead within twenty seconds. FJSC continued to push and play some superb football. In another attack Caden Walker was brought down in the area and Charlie Richardson took the resulting spot kick to seal his hat trick and a good 4-1 win.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks Sunday team startedwell in their match against Crosby Stuart as they looked to keep the pressure on top of the table Southport Trinity Blue. Some good midfield play saw the ball worked well into the area where Isaac Jones was on hand to finish to make it 1-0 early on. FJSC continued to press and a good finish from Caden Walker made it 2-0 before Alfie Frost calmy scored to make it 3-0 at half time.

With plenty to work on FJSC went into the second half with better communication between players and a good second goal by Alfie Frost was soon followed by a great shot from outside the area by Ellis Coyne to make the score 5 nil. Crosby Stuart then scored with a good counter attack to make it 5-1 before Charlie Richardson latched onto a great through ball to make the final score 6-1.

FJSC Under 11 Reds played away at Southport and Ainsdale Blues.  The Reds trailed 2 nil in the first half before Tommy Collins on his return after a long term injury scored for FJSC.  S. and A. responded with more goals before and after half time to secure the win.  The Red’s Man of the Match was Tommy Collins.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks played Claybrow on Saturday and in a six goal match honours were even.  Tom Murphy, Jake Gadsby and James Coulton scored one goal each.  The Man of the Match award was shared by Finn McDerbyand James Coulton.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks lined up at home against Lower Breck. The game was end to end with both goalkeepers making some incredible saves throughout the match.  In the first half Alex Rowley made a few bustling runs and was unlucky to not score, with his shot hitting the crossbar.  FJSC under 10 Blacks managed to nick the win in the final minutes of the game with a lovely run from Alex Rowley to assist Ashley Jones to score. A special mention to Isaac Melton who gave everything with some excellent defending. Man of the Match for his outstanding display in goal was Max Byford.

FJSC Under 10 Gold produced a fantastic performance against Southport Trinity White to secure a very good result.  It showcasedgreat play and noticeable improvement across the squad. From the opening whistle, the team displayed strong attacking intent and solid teamwork, putting early pressure on the opposition. The breakthrough came when Mason Davies found the net with a well-placed finish, giving FJSC an early lead. The opposition responded with a goal of their own, briefly shifting the balance, but FJSC remained composed and determined.

A solid defensive display, combined with quick transitions, ensured control of the gameagain. The momentum continued as Peter McCormick doubled the advantage with a brilliant strike, capitalising on excellent build-up play. In the closing stages, Peter McCormick sealed the victory with a third goal which highlighted the team’s growing confidence. Player of the Match was Lewis Kirkby for his amazing improvement and determination.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks were in action away against a very good Redgate Rovers Yellowswho dominated the match. The perfect playing conditions seemed to inspire the home side, who started strongly and never looked back. Redgate’s passing was sharp, and their movement off the ball created countless chances. The goals flowed steadily, with standout performances from their attackers, who showed composure and skill in front of goal. Credit must also go to Redgate’s defenders, who kept things solid at the back whenever FJSC tried to push forward.

For FJSC Blacks, it was a frustrating day. Despite their usual battling spirit, they struggled to gain a foothold in the game. Their efforts couldn’t match the intensity and precision of Redgate’s performance.

While the result was one-sided, FJSC Blackswill no doubt regroup and return stronger.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks played Southport Athletic Reds for the first time.  Southport started strongly and took an early lead. Despite battling hard the Blacks soon foundthemselves on the back foot with a well-placed second goal by Southport Athletic. The Blacks were working hard as a team and were awarded a penalty which was nicely slotted home by Sam O’Brien.  Southport were quick to counter and added a third goal before half- time.

FJSC played very well after the interval.  There was a change of keeper seeing Teddy Ball going into goal.  The Blacks kept Southport at bay and went on to the attack. Isaac Murphy was fouled in the area and from the second awarded penalty of the game Harley Rea stepped up and found the back of the net giving him his first competitive goal of the season. Man of  Match was Theo Dunn forhis tireless running and battling display while growing in confidence.

FJSC Under 7 Blacks produced a very good team performance against Southport and Ainsdale Reds.  There were some great goals scored, determination, timely tackles and excellent goalkeeping to secure a very impressive final result.  Scoring for FJSC were Ollie Jones,  Harry Brown, Albee Fairhurst with a penalty and Man of the Match Tayo Popoola.  Cole Jones was the medal winner.

FJSC Under 6 Whites played Apollo River in the Sefton Development League. FJSC did well to take the lead after early pressure. The score was even after ten minutes until Kayden Dowdell broke away to score and put FJSC in front.   River once again equalised to make it a draw at the first break. River then took over the contest with a flurry of four goals. The Whites then composed themselves with excellent work from Edison Foy, capped off with a well taken goal.

McEddy Osei Assibey broke away in attack on a number of occasions and was unlucky not to have scored. William Laugley worked tirelessly and bravely, halting Rivers attacks. A brilliant goal from Rivers sealed the win.  McEddy Osei Assibey impressed on his debut earning himself the referee’s Man of the Match award.
