Happy 66th Birthday to Formby Junior Sports Club!!

Formby Junior Sports Club celebrates its 66th birthday this week.  The club was founded on the 7th January 1959 when my dad Jim Rourke took his son Frank (me) for a game of football on Duke Street Park.  

A number of local boys joined in which was the start of this famous club.  From that moment on anyone who wanted to play football regardless of their ability could join.  This ethos of the club has never changed and over the years thousands of children have been members of FJSC.  Not only have they enjoyed their football with many very happy memories but life-long friendships have been made as well.

This coming weekend over three hundred children will be carrying on this tradition as football at FJSC will be renewed following the Christmas and New Year break.  

The Inter Club Section will recommence on Saturday 11th January for children between the ages of four and fourteen years of age.  FJSC’s Representative teams will also be back in action at the weekend playing in various leagues.

The club will have the addition of two new Representative teams joining their ranks this month.  A new FJSC Under 7 Whites team will be competing in the Craven Minor League for the first time and joining the FJSC Under 6 team playing in the Sefton Development League will be a brand new FJSC Under 5 team.

With the addition of these teams FJSC will be fielding 25 teams from Under 5 up to and including the Under 15’s.  This is the highestnumber of boys teams for many years.  

INTER CLUB START TIMES AT DEANSGATE LANE ON SATURDAY 11TH JANUARY, 2025  

9.00am -  9.30am.   -    GOALKEEPER COACHING

9.30am -  10.40am.   – YEARS SEVEN/ EIGHT / NINE

10.00am – 11.10am.  – 4’s / RECEPTION/ YEAR ONE

10.40am – 11.45am.  – YEAR TWO / YEAR THREE

11.15am – 12.30pm.  -  YEARS FOUR / FIVE / SIX

ALL GROUP SESSIONS WILL COMPRISE OF COACHING AND A FUN MATCH.  THERE IS A £3 CHARGE EACH SATURDAY FOR COACHING.

INTER CLUB NEWS

NEW MEMBERS IN ALL AGE GROUPS ARE MOST WELCOME

Parents may bring children along for a taster session to see if they like it before joining the club.

For new members there will now be reduced club membership fees as we are half way through the season.

£15 for four year olds and Reception.

£25 for Year One’s

£45 for Year Two’s and above.

Although the club does not at present have a Girls’ Section we would be very pleased to see girls coming along and joining in with the boys.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM NEWS

No more players can be registered for teams in leagues from Under 7 upwards due to FA rules.

The FJSC Under 5’s and FJSC Under 6 teams are allowed to accept new recruits to join their teams which will be playing on Sunday mornings.  If  interested please attend the Inter Club Section at Deansgate Lane on Saturdays from 10 -11.10am and/or contact Club Chairman at the following email address stellathecat4@gmail.com
