Formby’s cherished Easter tradition returns this year with the Good Friday Walk of Witness and Passion Play, hosted by Churches Together in Formby, Altcar and Hightown.
The community is warmly invited to take part in this moving and reflective event, which tells the powerful story of Easter in a unique and public way.
The event will take place on Friday 18th April, starting at 11:00am near Boots on Chapel Lane, where participants will gather for the Walk of Witness through the village.
At 11:15am, the walk will lead to Formby Pool Gardens, where a live Passion Play will be performed – a dramatic reenactment of the Easter story, bringing to life the final days of Jesus with heartfelt performances.
Everyone is encouraged to wear purple or yellow, symbolising the Easter message of hope and renewal.
The walk and play will be led by Fred Hatre, who continues to play an important role in keeping this meaningful tradition alive for the people of Formby and beyond.
This event is a beautiful opportunity for reflection, unity, and community spirit – and all are welcome, whether you’re a regular churchgoer or simply wish to experience the story of Easter in a special way.
Come along and be part of this moving local tradition.
