Frank’s Report from Formby Junior Sports Club

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 15’s gained an excellent 4-2 victory away at Burscough Dynamo last Saturday. Meanwhile the boys in the Inter Club Section enjoyed fun coaching sessions and exciting matches at sunny Deansgate Lane Playing Fields. In even hotter conditions on Sunday the Representative teams produced some very good results.

FJSC dominated the first 15 minutes of their match with Burscough and deservedly took the lead. Dynamo fought back, equalised and then briefly took the lead. Just before half time FJSC drew level at 2-2 . In the second half FJSC took control and added two more goals to secure a very good win. Steven Mordaunt scored two goals and there was one goal each for Ellis Parry and Luke Honour.

FJSC Under 11’s Saturday team played Bootle Boys and within ten seconds went one goal down after a defensive mix up. The Under 11’s quickly settled down and midway into the second half Charlie Garvey equalised. There were chances at both ends but the score

remained the same until the final whistle.

On Sunday FJSC Under 11’s were in action against Greenloons Yellows. The two teams paced themselves in the intense heat. Greenloons defended well and the game was very evenly contested until FJSC’s Callum Gray scored before half time. A Charlie Garvey corner was headed home by Dominic Maxwell in the second half and from another corner this time taken by Callum Gray, Dominic Maxwell scored with another header. Man of the match was Freddie Garvey.

FJSC Under 8’s played a very good Churchtown Jaguars team. There was lots of efforts and commitment from FJSC but no goals to reward their hard work. Goalkeeper Gregory Houghton and defender Ephraim Sutton produced good individual performances.

On a warm Sunday morning FJSC Under 7 Whites invited their friends from Crosby Stuart to Deansgate and both sides put in great team

performances. FJSC dominated the first half, with some great attacking play. Mason Stringer was on top form and scored a well- deserved hat trick and Diego Funes-Cervera added two goals in another excellent display. Josh Tallon and Clayton Gilbertson were solid throughout, and tackled very well. Thomas Crutchley and the ever improving Jaiden Crosby worked tirelessly and were unlucky not to score. Joshua Halpin made some exceptional tackles, claimed a few assists and was man of the match. The Whites tired late on and Crosby Stuart came back into this very good game with two goals. It was a match played in great spirit.

FJSC Under 7 Blacks played at home against Churchtown FC. FJSC played well with the goals coming from man of the match Oliver Hall-Gleeson and the team’s leading scorer Joseph Kenyon. Goalkeeper Harrison Hughes made some great saves. Finn McDerby came close to scoring and Will Roberts was very steady in defence.

INTER CLUB FOOTBALL

All the boys in every age group continue to improve their skills each week. On Saturday apart from some excellent goals being scored there were some outstanding tackles, great passing and some wonderful saves by the goalkeepers on show.

In all age groups there will be a coaching session which will be followed by a friendly game.

Boys wishing to give football a go are encouraged to come along and join us. All are welcome. There are two Saturday’s left this season.
