Formby Remembrance Services 2024
As we approach Remembrance Day, we honour the sacrifices made by those who served and gave their lives in the two world wars and other conflicts. The annual Remembrance Services have been arranged in collaboration between Sefton Council and Formby Royal British Legion, inviting all residents to join in a time of respect and reflection.
Remembrance Sunday Services - 10th November
• Hightown War Memorial – 10:50am
• St. Stephens Church, Hightown – 11:15am
• Ince Blundell War Memorial – 12:30pm
• Holy Trinity Church, Formby – Civic Service of Remembrance at 3:00pm
• Parade will commence from the Gild Hall at 2:30pm.
• The Mayor of Sefton, along with Council representatives, veterans, Armed Forces personnel, and community members, will gather to pay tribute.
Armistice Day Services - Monday, 11th November
• Formby War Memorial – Short Act of Remembrance at 10:55am, including a two-minute silence.
• Our Lady’s Churchyard, Polish War Graves – Commemoration at 11:30am, following the Formby War Memorial service.
• The Mayor of Sefton, local veterans, and Armed Forces personnel will be present to honor those who served.

The Garden of Remembrance Crosses at Formby Village War Memorial is open from 1st November for those wishing to place a cross in memory of loved ones. Crosses are available from Formby Home Store, with proceeds supporting the Poppy Appeal, and at Poppy stalls in Waitrose and Tesco.
We warmly encourage all residents to attend any of the services across Sefton and stand together in remembrance.
