Formby will fall silent with Remembrance Day services on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November 2023

On Armistice Day, Saturday 11th November at 10:55hrs there will be a short act of remembrance at Formby War Memorial including the laying of wooden crosses, followed at 11:30hrs at Our Lady`s Graveyard, Polish War Graves. The Mayor of Sefton, Councilors and other Sefton Council representatives will join veterans, Armed Forces personnel, community leaders and members of the community in paying their respects.

Residents are fully encouraged to attend any of the eleven services which will be held around the borough from 10:30am onwards.

Saturday 11th November at

10:50am at Formby War Memorial and then at 11:45am at Our Lady's Polish War Graves.

Sunday 12th November at

10:50am Hightown War Memorial.

11:10am at St.Steven`s Hightown

12:30pm at Ince Blundell War Memorial

3:00pm at HOLY TRINITY CHURCH

Once again it is the time of year when we remember all those who died in the two world wars and in all other conflicts. The main Remembrance Service is at 15:00hrs on Sunday 12th November at Holy Trinity Church, Rosemary Lane. This will be attended by the Mayor of Sefton who will read the lesson. The service will include the laying of wreaths and a parade will take place from and to the Gild Hall, Church Road. The Mayor will take the salute.

Our Garden of Remembrance Crosses situated at the War Memorial, Formby Village is open from the 1st November for the public to lay a cross in remembrance of relations and loved ones lost, Crosses can be obtained from Formby Home Store for a small donation to our Poppy Appeal. Our Poppy stalls in Waitrose and Tesco will also have them available.
