Formby Junior Sports Club will be celebrating its 64th football season next month - Franks report

In just under one month’s time it will be the start of Formby Junior Sports Club’s 64th football season. Preparations have been underway since the end of last season with the summer months always a busy time for the club. The start date for the Inter Club Section will be Saturday 3rd September at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields for children from four years of age up to and including Year 8’s.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

As always, since FJSC was founded in 1959,everyone is welcome to join the Inter Club Section regardless of ability. Parents can download a Formby Junior Sports Club membership form for 2022-2023 from the club website formbyjuniorsportsclub.co.uk in theclub document section or can contact Club Chairman Frank Rourke who will send you a form to complete and return and provide any necessary additional information.

For new members, if parents wish a two session ‘try and see if their child enjoys it time‘ before paying the annual club membership,this is quite in order. All we need initially is for the membership form to be completed so we can book a place for your child in the group.

CLEARING UP A COUPLE OF MISCONCEPTIONS

Inter Club football is open to all as soon as a child becomes four years of age. They do not have to be in Reception.

GIRLS ALLOWED

Just because FJSC does not, at present, have a Girls’ Section it does not mean that girls cannot play football at the club. Girls wishing to play football with the boys are very welcome to do so. In fact a number of the victorious Lionesses started off their football playing with the boys.

INTER CLUB INFORMATION

Every Inter Club member will have, at least, a one hour Saturday morning session with coaching (£2 each week) and a fun match.

START DATE – Saturday 3rd September at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields.

TIMES

Years 5/6. 9.30 am - 10.45 am

Years 7/8. 9.45 am - 11.00 am

Four year olds 10.45 am - 11.45am

Years 1/2. 10.45 am -11.45 am

Years 3/4 . 11.15 am - 12.15pm

Goalkeeper Coaching is from 9.00am -9.30am

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM FOOTBALL

Most of the Representative Teams will be playing their matches on Sundays. There will be teams at every age group from Under 6 up to and including Under 13’s. Fixtures and dates of matches will be published later this month with a start date early in September. Team managers will soon be in contact with their squads regarding the start of pre-season training.

PLAYERS WANTED

FJSC Under 7’s need 2 or 3 players for theirSunday morning team.

Also FJSC Under 13’s is looking to extend their Sunday squad with 2 or 3 new players. The new recruits will be joining a team who last weekend won a prestigious tournament. See below.

EXTRA CLUB NEWS

Congratulations to next season’s FJSC Under 13’s for winning the Macclesfield FC Under 12 Summer Cup at the Leasing.com Stadium last weekend. Teams from all over the country took part. It was a great competition for the boys to be involved in and wonderful preparation for the new season when the boys will be moving up to 11 aside football.
