Formby Junior Sports Club Under 10 Blacks hit top form and reach Cup Final.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 10 Blacks faced Southport FCYellow in the semi-final of the Craven Minor League’s Wilf Jenkinson Cup. The game started slowly before the Blacks opened the scoring when a beautiful cross from Jack Hansen was met by a firm Ashley Jones header for a 1 nil lead. Soon after FJSC doubled the lead when another assist from Jack Hansen found Asher Fields who scored from long range with a thunderous shot. Finally, Ashley Jones assisted Alex Rowley to score the third and final goal of the game to give FJSC Under 10 Blacks the victory and bag themselves a place in the final.
It was a very composed and mature performance from the boys who have made great strides this season. See photograph above.
FJSC Under 10 Gold team endured a tough outing against a very good Netherton Lions team and suffered a defeat in a one-sided cupsemi-final encounter. Despite moments of effort, resilience and determination by theFJSC Gold team, the opposition proved too strong and dominated from start to finish.
The game started with Netherton Lions asserting control early on and scoring quick goals that left FJSC struggling to settle. FJSC found some relief when Thomas Carrolmanaged to pull one goal back, offering a moment of celebration amidst the difficult match. Netherton added more goals before the end. Throughout the match there wereglimpses of positive play from the FJSC Gold team. It was a mini setback after a run of encouraging results but the squad will learn from this experience, and focus on upcoming fixtures to bounce back stronger. Player of theMatch was Thomas Carroll.
FJSC Under 9 Whites played Redgate RoversYellow and started the game well finding loads of space. In a good passage of play Elliott Dyment latched onto a well-placed through ball to score. Joshua Gillespie and Noah Martin-Gargon kept Redgate at bay for the majority of the first half with outstanding defensive displays.
Charlie Ormesher was very lively in attackuntil the Redgate defenders tightened up in defence reducing FJSC’s goalscoring chances. Charlie Vernon managed to get himself on the scoresheet just before half time after receiving a cross into the box from Joshua Gillespie. Oliver Parrish was also unlucky not to make it on to the scoresheet for a second week running.
FJSC had a narrow lead going into the second half but with no available substitutes due to half term the boys started to tire. Redgate took full advantage and started to gain control, levelled the score and then leapt into the leadwhich they held until the end. Austin Faraday played well in goal deputising for the team’s regular keeper and narrowly missed out on theMan of the Match award which went to Elliott Dyment for his outstanding performance scoring twice and helping with an assist.
In difficult conditions FJSC Under 9 Blacks played Southport Athletic Reds who showed composure and attacking intent to secure a victory. FJSC Blacks were far more dangerous than the final score-line would suggest and scored three times with goals from Sebastian James, Theo Richards and Lukas Sammon.
From the start, Southport Athletic Reds pressed, looking to dominate possession and play with intensity. Their quick transitions and sharp movement created early openings, leading to a fast lead. FJSC were brave, well-organised and played through the pressure causing problems of their own. They created several big chances and, on another day, might have scored more.
The weather made control difficult, but Southport adapted well, showing fluency in attack while remaining structured out of possession. FJSC’s willingness to play forward and commit numbers was impressive, and their three goals reflected the threat they posed. However, Southport’s ability to punish defensive gaps ultimately proved decisive.
It was a game played at high energy, with both teams embracing the chaos the conditions created. The Reds took their chances ruthlessly, but FJSC showed real courage and attacking ambition. It was a strong contest, and a reminder that the score never tells the full story.
It was a wild and windy one, on Sunday morning, for the FJSC Under 8 Whites who faced Churchtown FC away at GreenbankHigh School. FJSC took an early lead with a good goal from Archie Jones. Soon Churchtown found the equaliser which FJSC replied to with two first half goals from Ben Donnelly and Luke Clarke ending the half 1-3.
In the second half, Churchtown got back into the game making it 4-3. FJSC battled hard and found the equaliser - a great strike from the left by Henry Ade. It was close and competitive match against a strong team. Man of the Match was Henry Ade for his determination and impressive equalising goal in the final minutes of the match.
FJSC Under 8 Blacks found themselves away on a windy and rainy Sunday at Burscough Dynamo Yellows. Despite the weather conditions it didn’t deter FJSC Blacks. The boys started strongly with Teddy Ball seizing on an opportunity and scoring to give FJSC the lead. The Blacks continued pressing hard and were rewarded with a well-earned secondgoal from Ted Middleton who ran past three Dynamo players before scoring. In the final minute Seb Downes was unlucky in front of goal with a shot that looked like it was goingin only for the ball to stop on the Burscough goal-line.
Man of the Match was awarded to James Taylor for his good defensive play in a new found position.
FJSC Under 7 Blacks played away at Southport FC and took an early lead but by half time trailed by one goal. Southport extended their lead after the break but in a grandstand finish the Blacks fought back and when the final whistle went, they had fallenshort by only one goal which would have given them a draw in this very exciting encounter.
Everyone was very proud of the boys’ efforts particularly in the second half when Southport had opened up a big lead. Goalkeeper Albee Fairhurst made some superb saves throughout the match. Man of the Match Harry Brownwas strong in defence holding his position and helping his team. Harry’s tackling and distribution was excellent. Ollie Jones scoredanother hat trick and his overall play was superb. Tayo Popoola showed his skills andalso scored. Archie Parrish who received the medal never stopped running and nearly assisted two goals at the end through great dribbling and crosses. Cole Jones was unlucky not to score with a long range lob and together with Max Healey made some great runs. It was a very good team performance.
