Formby Junior SC U13 Whites Celebrate First League Points with Thrilling Draw
Congratulations to Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 13 Whites have finally opened their league account with a well-deserved draw which was so nearly a win.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 13 Whites gained their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw against Southport and Ainsdale Reds. Patrick Bodziany’s two headed goals from excellent corners from Ben Gregory gave the Whites a 2 nil lead. Team captain Luke Greenbank came close to adding a third goal after some great play down the wing.
Southport and Ainsdale Reds scored twice in the final ten minutes to level the score at 2-2. The Whites still pushed on for the winner in the final few minutes but time ran out. It was a very good effort by the FJSC Whites andgaining one point in the league will give them much confidence for future matches.
It was very difficult to pick a Man of the Match with everyone playing so well but for making some top class saves goalkeeper Harry Ball won the award. Special mention also goes to Patrick Bodziany who was very brave at the back post with the two headed goals. See the squad photograph above.
FJSC Under 15 Black’s Saturday team lost for the first time this season. Their opponents Remyca were denied by the woodwork in the first half. FJSC came back strongly in the second half but Remyca eventually took the lead with a deflected free kick. Remyca were then awarded a penalty. Goalkeeper Jack Guy parried the spot kick on to the bar but the rebound went straight to a Remyca player who scored for a 2 nil win. Despite the loss of three points FJSC remain top of the league.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks played FCFC Predators on a very muddy Buckley Hill pitch. The Blacks scored early on and continued to attack with every opportunity and went on to win 11-1. Ben Harris scored four. Harry Redhead, Reuben Burke and Luke Greenbank added two goals each and Lucas Lewis was also a scorer. The Banana Tattoo Formby Player of the Match was Luke Greenbank.
FJSC U12 Whites continued their trend of starting games slowly this time on their travels to Crosby to play Marina Sands. Despite having the majority of the possession, it was Marina Sands who scored twice in the opening exchanges. FJSC grew into the game as the half developed and a goal just before half time from Nik Kostakis gave the boys some belief they could get back into the game.
A much better second half performance started with an equaliser from Gregory Houghtonafter a well worked corner before a brace from Man of the Match Archie Marron sealed thethree points for FJSC. The boys battled hard with only nine players and there were some excellent performances from GregoryHoughton, Archie Marron and MatthewCrutchley which saw them run out deserved victors.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks Saturday team played Ormskirk West End. With some good passing it didn’t take FJSC long to take the lead with a fine finish from Isaac Jones. It soon became 2 nil when Ben Webster scored from the edge of the area. FJSC were then reduced to eightplayers for ten minutes due to a sin bin offencewhich saw Ormskirk take full advantage andscoring with a good finish to make it 2-1. Just before half time, FJSC committed too many players forward and a breakaway by Ormskirkmade the score 2-2.
.
FJSC recomposed themselves at the intervaland went back out and soon took a 3-2 lead with good work from Alfie Frost. Ormskirk then equalised with another breakaway before a penalty converted by Alfie Frost and a second goal by Man of the Match Isaac Jones sealed a 5-3 win.
With six wins from six games in the Premier League, the title comes down to a winner takes all against Silcox Villa next weekendwho are two points behind FJSC.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks Sunday team had a tough match against league leaders Churchtown Jaguars. The game finish 1-0 to Churchtown Jags in a game either team could have won. Both teams battled and slogged on a good 4G surface at Chesterfield High Schoolthat saw some good play from the two teams. FJSC gave everything but just could not find the equaliser against a well drilled Jags team. FJSC are still in with a great chance of the title in the Craven Minor League but need to bounce back against Redgate Rovers next week. Man of the Match was Caden Walker.
FJSC Under 11 Whites lost to a very good Muniflex team on Saturday. Diego Funes-Cervera scored the Whites only goal and the Man of the Match award was shared by Josh Halpin and Huey Stevenson.
On Sunday FJSC Under 11 Whites lost 5-1 to Redgate Yellows in the cup.
FJSC Under 11 Blacks Saturday team won for the second week in succession and played very well against 11 Soccer Blue.
FJSC Under 10 Blacks lined up against Southport Athletic Blacks for the second time this season and started strongly and took the lead early on with a great goal from Idris Jones, the first goal of his hat trick during the match. This goal was followed in quick succession with a lovely assist from Ashley Jones to put Jack Hansen through on goal to score. Ashley Jones was rewarded with a goal himself, from a well- timed assist from Idris Jones. Then Asher Fields scored a beautiful goal from outside the box before half time.
Southport Athletic played well defensively in the second half but they still couldn’t stop Asher Fields from making a lovely run and scoring
his second of the game. The game finished with a nice assist from Ashley Jones to give Mason Nisted his first goal of the season and to earn him the Man of the Match award. It was a very good team performance with some tremendous football being played.
FJSC Under 10 Gold only had seven playersavailable for their match with Southport Athletic Reds due to illness and injuries. However the youngsters showed great improvement against opponents who had previously beaten them 16-1 earlier in the season.
The first half was an evenly contested affair, with the front three displaying excellent passing movements. Their fluid link-up play led to three promising chances, with one effort striking the woodwork. The team's progress since the last meeting was evident in both organisation and confidence.
However, the second half told a different story. With no substitutes available on the bench, fatigue began to take its toll on the depleted squad. The opposition capitalised on the tired legs, applying
sustained pressure that resulted in seven goals.Despite the challenging circumstances, there were notable bright spots,
particularly from the front three. Man of the Match Paolo Raffo stood out with his skilful play and excellent awareness, creating three good scoring opportunities and consistently pressuring the opposition's defence.
FJSC Under 9 Whites played a friendlyagainst Southport FC Reds Under 10’s. FJSC’s quality across the pitch shone through and they secured a thoroughly deserved and hard fought win. Whilst Southport FC were the physically bigger team, FJSC matched their physicality and enjoyed some fantastic passages of play with brilliant passes being made by all the boys.
A focus on teamwork was top of the agenda and all the boys should be very proud of themselves. With no subs available all the boys played the full match and worked tirelessly throughout . Southport’s goalkeeper enjoyed a superb performance. Charlie Ormesher and Player of the Match Noah Martin- Gargon scored two goals each in the narrow victory.
FJSC Under 9 Blacks played Southport Trinity who secured a convincing victory, but the scoreline did not reflect the effort and determination of the FJSC Blacks. Trinity started strongly, using their experience to control the game and convert their chances with clinical precision. Despite the mounting score, FJSC never wavered, creating several promising opportunities. However, luck was not on their side as they struggled to find the back of the net.
Both teams played some attractive football, with the away side showing encouraging progress in their teamwork and positioning. Their effort and enthusiasm were evident as they battled to the final whistle. While Trinity celebrated a well-earned win, FJSC’s resilience and potential stood out, with several contenders for Man of the Match, offering plenty to build on for future matches.
FJSC Blacks play away at Southport Heskethfor their second meet of the season. The Blacks started off strong with an early goal from Isaac Murphy to open the scoresheet. This was soon followed by a brace from Sam O’Brien. The Blacks ended the first half with a narrow lead.
Southport Hesketh started the second half stronger and took the initiative and the lead. Ted Middleton was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet after nearly running the full length of the pitch. Sam O’Brien capitalised on a Hesketh mistake to score and complete a well-deserved hat trick and earn him the Man of the Match trophy.
FJSC Under 7 Blacks were in action against Southport FC Yellow and had some good early pressure and created several chances before
Harry Brown opened the scoring. The pressure from FJSC continued in the first half with good passing, however Southport stayed in the game and were dangerous on the counter attack. Oliver Jones scored for the home team for a one goal lead at half time.
In the second half man of the match Tayo Popoola continued to press Southport with some skilful runs. Harry Brown scored his second goal and Theo Thomas scored with a well hit shot from the edge of the penalty area. Southport though refused to be beaten and came back to just one goal down with FJSCrelying on Albee Fairhurst in goal to hold on for a win.
Special mentions to Teddy Marron who was awarded the team trophy for effort, and to Cole Jones and Archie Parrish who passed, ran and tackled all game.
