Formby Community FC had a great weekend with smiles all round!

FCFC Weekly Round-Up – 23/09/24

It was a fantastic Saturday with the weather on our side, and it was great to see so many faces, both new and familiar, at our coaching sessions. The boys and girls were all smiles, enjoying their time with the coaches. We can’t wait to see everyone back next week—newcomers are always welcome!

Match Highlights:

U10 Fire vs. Maghull

A hard-fought win for the boys against a much-improved Maghull team. They came together in the second half, winning every 1v1, header, and 50/50 battle, with great teamwork, especially from the four summer signings.

U8 Boys

After a shaky patch conceding four goals, the team rallied and found their rhythm. Strong runs, movement, and a determined attitude helped them secure the win. Lots learned and even more to build on!

U7 Falcons vs. Litherland Clarets

A tough loss, but the boys worked hard. They had their chances, including a few near misses off the post and some excellent saves by the opposition. Despite the score, they kept smiling and had fun.

U14 Boys vs. Huyton

A 6-2 loss, but the performance was much better than the score line suggests. They missed four great chances, and the opposition benefited from two offside goals, so it was a closer game than it looked.

U10 Rockets vs. Marina Sands Whites

A dominant win for the Rockets, showcasing experience with five different goal scorers. Strong performances in both defence and attack, with special mentions for Zidane’s work ethic and several others. Picking players of the match was a tough task!

U13 Predators vs. Marine

A tough day, losing 8-2 despite controlling much of the game. After fighting back to lead 2-1, a few defensive errors and a fluke goal led to a frustrating result. Heads up for the next one!

U15 Blacks vs. Northfield Dortmund

A 3-3 draw in their first game at Hightown League. Despite being the better team in the first half, missed chances let the opposition back in. The boys were exhausted but fought hard to the end.

U18 Girls vs. Mossley Hill

A 2-0 win against a strong and physical Mossley Hill side. Despite getting drawn into a scrappy second half, the girls held on and secured the win with a late second goal.

U9 Lions vs. Claybrow

The boys executed a defensive 3-2-1 formation to perfection against a strong opponent, keeping it close for most of the match. Despite the loss, the performance showed real promise for the rest of the season.

U13 Girls vs. Maghull Yellow

A narrow 1-0 win, but plenty to work on, especially when playing out from the back. The girls are likely to make the top league when fixtures start, though tougher challenges await.

U10 Panthers (Girls) vs. Southport Trinity

A confident second-half performance turned the tide, with the girls showing composure and netting some excellent goals for a morale-boosting win.

U9 Tigers vs. Marina Sands

A strong performance with goals spread across the team, and a clean sheet in the second half. A great effort, especially from our newer players!

U11 Raiders (Girls) vs. Maghull Blue

The girls held their own in the first half, but struggled to create chances after falling behind. Despite the 5-0 loss, they showed heart and determination.

U13 Purples vs. Netherton Phoenix

A tough 7-1 loss, but the team gave 100% until the end. Joe Rimmer stood out as Player of the Match, with Arthur and Sophie also working hard.

-U6 Boys vs. Stocky Black

An exciting 6-5 win in a well-contested match. The boys worked hard and found the winner with just two minutes left. Goals from Leo, Oscar, and Charlie highlighted an excellent team performance.

U11 Rapids (Girls) vs. Rainford Barca

A disappointing performance as the girls struggled to get into their usual rhythm, despite some bright moments, including a penalty save from the goalkeeper.

U12 Girls vs. Bellefield

A scrappy 1-1 draw. The girls created plenty of chances but couldn't find the second goal they needed. A soft equalizer from the opposition left them disappointed.

-U14 Boys vs. Finn Harps

A commanding 7-2 win in a tough, physical encounter!

Ladies First Team vs. Liverpool Feds

A fantastic 2-1 win for the ladies, especially impressive with only 10 players available. A proud moment for the team.
