Formby children’s choir, Make Noise 2 feature in Amazon Prime Movie and appear in Disneyland Paris
It has been an incredibly busy summer for Make Noise 2 youth choir from Formby.
A spokesperson from Make Noise 2 said: “The Summer started with their annual summer concert, along with the members of Make Noise adult choir, at Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral which raised £2,668 for Breast Cancer charity Coppafeel.”
“Following this, they were selected to feature in a new Amazon Prime movie starring teen heart throbs Tanner Buchanan (Cobra Kai), Sebastian Croft (Heartstopper) and CharithraChandran (Bridgerton). Make Noise 2 recorded a famous 80s classic song, arranged by their director Catherine Last, in Motor Museum recording studio, where artists such as Oasis, The Artic Monkeys and Jake Bugg have recorded their albums.”
“The filming took place during the night in Manchester which was an incredibly exciting experience for all of the children, wrapping their shoot at 1am. They got to meet all of the stars and were treated like stars themselves with their own trailer on set and full costume and makeup. The movie is set to be released in May 2023.”
“Just four days later, they flew off to Paris to perform at Disneyland as they had successfully auditioned to be a part of Disney’s Performing Arts programme back in September. Not only did they perform in the Videopolis Theatre, but they also got to take part in the Parade. Following their performance, one of the Disneyland team told them that in their 15 years working at Disney, in their opinion, Make Noise 2 was the most accomplished children’s group that they had heard there.”
Make Noise 2 Director Catherine Last said: “I could not be prouder of the young people of Make Noise 2. Their professionalism on set and at Disneyland was exceptional. They are such a talented bunch of children who really bring my arrangements to life. To be able to say you have been in a movie and performed in Disneyland is just incredible.”
Make Noise 2 is a youth choir for children aged 8 (or year 3) -18. There is no audition to join and all are welcome. They start back at St Jerome’s Parish Centre on Monday 5thSeptember. For enquires, email info@makenoisechoir.co.uk
Catherine Last is a Formby girl but moved away for drama school in 2003 and lived in London for 12 years. She moved back with her family in 2015 and set up the choir a month after she returned. It was initially for adults but she started the children's choir in 2016 after she had launched her theatre school LastAct Academy. Catherine has many private singing pupils and she teaches singing at St Luke's and Formby High so there were lots of children who jumped at the chance to join the choir. Since then, the choirs have sang with the Kingdom Choir at the Liverpool Philharmonic and during lockdown, created many videos which have had close to half a million views.
Singing is such a wonderful way to enhance mental health. Catherine has four children herself (aged between 2 and 10) and she understands the importance of celebrating each and every member of her choir, making them know they belong. Catherine celebrates inclusivity at Make Noise 2 and no child is required to audition.
