Formby Beach Ranks Among the UK's Top Ten Most Instagrammable Beaches

Formby Beach has been named one of the most Instagrammable beaches in the UK, placing 8th in a new nationwide ranking. With its unspoiled natural beauty, expansive sand dunes, and stunning coastal views, Formby Beach continues to be a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike, capturing the hearts of those who experience its unique charm.

The study, conducted by ‘No Deposit Rewards’, analysed 50 of the UK’s most popular beaches to determine their popularity on Instagram. The rankings were based on the total number of posts shared by visitors using the most popular hashtags associated with each beach. This data revealed Formby Beach as one of the top contenders, reflecting its broad appeal and the picturesque scenes regularly shared by beachgoers.

Formby Beach’s inclusion in this list is a testament to the natural beauty we’re so lucky to have on our doorstep. Stretching along the Sefton coast, Formby Beach is known not only for its vast sandy shores but also for the surrounding dunes, pinewoods, and wildlife, including the rare red squirrel population. The beach offers stunning views across the Irish Sea and, on clear days, visitors can even catch a glimpse of the Welsh mountains in the distance.

Why Formby Beach is Special

What sets Formby Beach apart is the sense of tranquillity and unspoiled beauty it offers. Unlike many more commercialised beaches, Formby remains a peaceful retreat where visitors can truly connect with nature. Whether it’s families enjoying a day out, walkers exploring the coastal paths, or photographers capturing its dramatic scenery, Formby Beach is a haven for those seeking both relaxation and adventure.

The beach is also a vital part of the local community and economy, drawing tourists and residents to enjoy its natural beauty year-round. From coastal walks to dune hikes and wildlife spotting, Formby offers something for everyone. It is also an area steeped in history, with prehistoric footprints sometimes visible on the shore during low tides, offering a glimpse into life thousands of years ago.

As well as being an Instagram-worthy destination, Formby Beach plays a crucial role in local conservation efforts, with organisations like the National Trust working tirelessly to protect the delicate dune system and preserve this coastal treasure for future generations.

The UK’s Most Instagrammable Beaches

Formby Beach joins an impressive list of beaches recognised for their visual appeal. At the top of the list is Durdle Door in Dorset, a UNESCO World Heritage site famed for its iconic limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast. Other notable mentions include Camber Sands in Sussex, known for its vast sand dunes, and Blackpool Beach, home to the famous Pleasure Beach amusement park.

While these beaches boast significant popularity, Formby’s quiet charm and natural landscape make it a special place to visit, and one that we, as locals, are fortunate to call our own. With its combination of scenic beauty and cultural significance, Formby Beach has earned its place as one of the most loved beaches in the UK.
