FJSC Under 13’s went top of Craven Minor League after winning their local derby match, Franks report
It was another good weekend for Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams with the Under 13’s Sunday team going top of the Craven Minor League after winning theirlocal derby match. There were also excellent results for the Under 11’s, Under 10’s Under 8’s and Under 7’s. The Inter Club Section was very well attended considering it was the first half term Saturday. The standard of football played in the Inter Club matches is noticeably improving each Saturday. This goes to show the benefit that Inter ClubCoaching is having on our very keen young footballers.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 13 Blacks were in second position in the league before their encounter with third placed Freshfield FC. After eighteen minutes Archie Ogden gave FJSC the lead following a great through ball from Luca Massey. Freshfield equalised four minutes later. Dominic Maxwell scored FJSC’s second goal after an assist from Archie Ogden early in the second half. Archie Ogden then made it 3-1 for FJSC with Dominic Maxwell this time being the provider. FJSC then managed the game very well holding the 3-1 lead to the final whistle. The three vital points proved very important as FJSC Under 13’s returned to the top of the league. Man of the match was Archie Ogden.
FJSC Under 11 White went into their away match at Crosby Stuart with more confidence built up from the previous week’s win and started very lively. The Under 11’s missedsome early chances and against the run of play Crosby Stuart scored first. It was a different experience for the boys having lots of the ball and trying to break down a Crosby side who defended deep. A nice cross from Lucas Lewiswas side footed into the top corner by Ralph Renton for FJSC’s equaliser. It was soon 2-1 when Ralph Renton went on a superb dribbling run in the box to slot home. A Nick Kostakis through ball was then pounced upon by Ralph Renton who finished in style to complete a wonderful hat-trick. Just before half time Crosby Stuart pulled a goal back.
It was clear that the next goal scored wasgoing to be very important and after a few close attempts and good saves from the Crosby keeper Lucas Lewis scored with a trademark long-range cracker to extend FJSC’s lead. Ben Harris who had been running the midfield throughout also scored and a coolly taken Lucas Lewis penalty rounded off another great performance.
Harry Ball in goal and the defence were really strong throughout. It was impressive how well the boys adapted to the changes made andGeorge Rowan deserves special mention. It was very much a team effort though where alleleven boys gave their best and did what was asked of them.
FJSC Under 10 Whites played away at Crosby Stuart and played very well throughout. Man of the match Rowan Jones scored a hat trick. Gregory Houghton added two goals and Albie Salters, Jack Richards and Isaac Jones were also on the scoresheet with one goal each.
FJSC Under 9 Reds had an away day at Bankfield Lane playing against Southport Hesketh FC. Both teams started well and despite chances the end to end game did notproduce any goals in the first half. The second half was contested in a similar fashion with plenty of goalmouth action but Southport Hesketh took one of their chances to score the only goal of the game. The coaches player of the match award was a close affair with James Hannan getting better every game between the sticks and Mason Todd producing another consistent solid outing at wing back but it was Joel Craven’s impressive display in defence which meant he took the man of the matchaward.
FJSC Under 9 Whites Sunday team played FJSC Under 9 Blacks. There was nothing between the teams with both teams scoring one goal each.
FJSC Under 8 Whites were in action against Burscough Dynamo and once again played very well. Jack Haggart, Seb Hodgson, Henry Williamson, Jack Hansen and James Smith were all scorers with one goal each.
FJSC Under 8 Blacks continued their fine form and were involved in a thrilling match with Redgate Rovers Blacks. Isaac Daniels was on target with two goals and Ashley Jones also scored.
FJSC Under 7’s set off early to travel to Burscough to play Burscough Dynamo Yellow. The Under 7’s full of confidence from their team display the previous week started well pushing Burscough deeper into their own half and getting closer to goal with every shot. The boys finally found the net with a fantastic team goal and continued to make and take their chances throughout the match. Scoring the goals were Otto Johnson, Charlie Ormesher and Jack Brown. Charlie Vernon and Oliver Parrish also came close to scoring. It was a fantastic team effort with the man of the match award going to Charlie Ormesherwho scored a double hat trick.
