Emergency services attended a property in Formby today when a car crashed into a two storey building
A building had to be evacuated at lunchtime in Formby today when a Mercedes car smashed through the wall of the building on the Stephenson Way business park.
Police, fire and the ambulance service were called to the scene. The driver of the Mercedes was a woman who was taken to hospital.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “Merseyside Police were called to Stephenson Way in Formby Business Park just after 12.10pm on Thursday, June 8, following reports of a car driving into a building. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a woman had drove her Mercedes into the wall of Littler Machinery.”
“The woman was safely removed from her vehicle and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.”
The car remains at the scene and there is major structural damage to the side of the building and a huge pile of bricks next to the car.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene and evacuated the building as a precaution.
A structural engineer was requested and attended the scene to assess the condition of the corner of the affected building.
A cordon was put in place and metal fences were put around the building.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident at Stephenson Way, Formby on the afternoon of Thursday 8th June. Crews were alerted at 12.15 and two fire engines were on scene at 12.19.”
"This was one vehicle that had collided with the corner of a two-storey building, approximately 6 metres × 12 metres. The vehicle was on all four wheels and the driver was helped out of the vehicle and treated for minor injuries by North West Ambulance Service Paramedics.”

"Crews handed over the scene to the building owner before leaving at 14.03."
