Eleven wins and three draws for Formby Junior Sports Club at the weekend

It was a good weekend for Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams.  There were eleven wins and three draws out of the twenty -one matches played and one hundred and nine goals were scored collectively by the FJSC teams.  Three teams – FJSC Under 15’s,  FJSC Under 12 Black and FJSC Under 11 White won both their Saturday and Sunday matches.

FJSC REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 15’s Saturday team played Mags Milan in the Hightown Junior League.  It was a hard fought match with both teams having chances.  FJSC saw two shots hit the Mags crossbar before Berat Ulusoy , on his birthday , scored from long range after thirty minutes.  Archie Ogden made it 2 nil in the second half with an assist from Charlie Garvey. Man of the match for his excellent defending went to Daniel Hill.

On Sunday FJSC Under 15’s took on FC Northern Blue in the Tuebruck League.  The boys played some lovely football.  There were some great team goals and some individual goals as well in the 11-1 win.  Archie Ogden scored four, Taj-Deen Abdulai and Luca Massey added two goals each. Charlie Garvey and Alfie Holden also scored with two screamers from twenty yards.

FJSC Under14 Blacks played in a close contest against Ormskirk West End in a Skelmersdale Junior League fixture. FJSC fell behind to a set piece as Ormskirk scored with a header from a corner, and then doubled their lead from a free kick. Formby fought back as they created several chances first through Charlie Knowles whose superb run down the right wing and cross was narrowly missed at the far post, and then from Patrick Fleming, who’s free kick fell to Ben Cargill on the edge of the penalty box and he calmly finished to make it 2-1. Other chances came and went from both teams with Riley Higgs pulling off a fantastic reactionary save to keep the score at 2-1 at half time.

FJSC pushed for the equaliser in the second half and Ethan Richmond was unlucky to see his powerful shot ruled out for offside. Other chances fell to Patrick Fleming on the left and Ollie Dean through the middle, but the Ormskirk keeper kept them at bay and in the final moments of the game, Ormskirk were awarded a penalty which they converted to secure the win. After a much improved performance there were many candidates for Player of the Match, but Ethan Tucker deservedly received the accolade for his strong play at the centre of defence.

FJSC Under 13 White Sunday team produced a brilliant performance  against a really strongCrosby Stuart team in the Craven Minor League. Harry McCluskie with a great composed finish from outside the box made it 1-1. Crosby Stuart added three more goals to record a 4-1 win. The FJSC boys fought until the end and put in a really impressive defensive display. Joby Varey was solid at right back and was Man of the Match.  Jaron Fox also made a really important goal line clearance to keep the team in the match.

FJSC Under 13 Black Saturday team can be proud of their efforts against a much improved Silcox Villa. Early in the game it was all FJSC with Lucas Lewis in a first half performance in which he scored a hat-trick and also hit the post after a bright start.  A little  confidencewas lost after Silcox scored their second goal.  Last season the team would have folded once the opponents equalised. In actual fact the team came really close to nicking it with a late Connor Howells opportunity. Seth McNamaraand Eoin Dwyer had good games at full back.In goal Ben Gregory had another strong game making three crucial saves. All the boys played very well in a good team display which was full of energy. Man of the Match was hat trick hero Lucas Lewis in an exciting 3-3 draw.

On Sunday FJSC Under 13 Black entertained Southport Trinity White and won 9-1.  Connor Howell’s scored four times.  Harry Redhead scored a hat trick and there was one goal each for Ben Harris and Oskar Wood.  Man of the Match was Connor Howells but it was a matchin which all thirteen boys brought their A game.

FJSC Under 12 White kicked off their league campaign with a hard fought away victory at Ferryside Lane. Southport Athletic took an early lead and looked to be well on top in the first part of the game. FJSC grew with confidence as the half developed and equalised with a well taken goal from striker Albie Salters. The half time score was 1-1

FJSC had the advantage of a strong breeze in the second half and started brightly scoring first through Archie Marron’s long-range effort and added to their lead with a neat finish from Matthew Crutchley. Southport Athletic came back strongly scoring from a cross before being given the chance to equalise after a penalty decision went their way.  It was 3-3and into the final ten minutes.   A mazy run from Matthew Crutchley saw him beat three Athletic defenders before calming slotting the winner for FJSC.

It was a good all round performance for the first competitive game of the season.  Everyone did well particularly with a battling second half performance.  Man of the Match went to Matthew Crutchley for his two goalsincluding the match winner and for his all-round performance.

FJSC Under 12 Black Saturday team started the game against Forefield White strongly with both Ellis Coyne and Caden Walker controlling the centre of midfield in the early minutes of the game. It didn’t take long beforeCharlie Richardson opened the scoring for FJSC after good inter play with Isaac Jones.

With both Sylvan O’Hara and Luke Millington stretching the play on the wings it created the space for Louis O’Connor and Alex Barr to play out from the back with some great passing with Oscar Phillips in goal. FJSC continued to play some great football. Charlie Richardson then scored his second goal before Isaac Jones added his first of the afternoon to give FJSC a 3-0 half time lead.

The team continued to press in the second half with the introduction Alfie Forsyth and Finely Scott on the wings. Finley then finished a great flowing move to make it 4-0. Luke Millington continued to press hitting the post a number of times. Leo Fagan was introduced in midfield before Isaac Jones got his second and third goal to make it 6-0. Finally, a marauding run from Louis O’Connor saw him finish to make the final score 7-0.

A special mention goes to Oscar Phillips, Louis O’Connor and Alex Barr who played some great passing football at the back under pressure from the opposition to ensure that a clean sheet was kept. Man of the Match wasCharlie Richardson.

FJSC Under 12 Black Sunday team started their first home game of the new season nervously as they struggled to get hold of the ball in what was a scrappy first fifteenminutes. Eventually Ellis Coyne started to stamp his authority in midfield and a great through ball by his midfield partner Sylvan O’Hara saw Charlie Richardson put through 1 on 1 which he duly finished to give FJSC a 1-0 lead. This settled the boys down as Sylvan and Ellis looked to control the game. With Caden Walker providing the width down the right hand side the game started to flow in FJSC’s favour and a great finish by Isaac Jones made it 2 nil . A great move by Luke Millington saw FJSC win a corner which Luke played a perfect ball into the area and Sylvan O’Hara finished. With Alex Barr and Louis O’Connor playing out well from the back and Oscar Phillips in goal playing a sweeping role, Trinity where limited in chances. Just before half time a great pass from Ellis Coyne saw Isaac Jones finish again to make it 4 nil.

At the start of the second half Isaac Jones added another two to his tally of four before Finley Scott finished well to make it 7-0. With Alfie and Leo battling well Charlie Richardson got his second goal his performance deserved before Louis O’Connor finished well to make it 9-0. Just before full time some slack defensive work allowed Trinity to get a consolation but that didn’t take the shine off another good performance. The Man of the Match award was shared by Isaac Jones and Ellis Coyne.

FJSC Under 11 White Saturday team continued their excellent start to the season with a good all round team performance against Ormskiirk West End.  Zac Cooper and Archie Walker scored hat tricks. Huey Stevenson scored a brace and there was one goal apiece for Zac McHugh and Diego Funes-Cervera. Quinn McAuley, Clayton Connolly and Isaac Rimmer were excellent at the back and  Kayden Watters and Josh Halpin controlled the tempo of the game in midfield.

On Sunday FJSC Under 11 White edged a twelve goal thriller with Forefield Rangers Red.  Andreos Mingas opened the scoring following an assist from Josh Halpin.  Forefield struck back with three goals before half time.  The Whites were soon back in the lead with three goals in five minutes at the start of the second half.  Goals flew in at both ends in an action packed second half with FJSC just staying ahead.  Clayton Connolly scored a hat trick, Diego Funes-Cervera added two goals and Zac McHugh completed the scoring.  Huey Stevenson was Man of the Match for a commanding display.

FJSC Under 11 Black Saturday team produced a great team performance against a good Forefield White.  Jake Gadsby scored four ,Joseph Kenyon added a brace and Leo Ball was also on target with one goal. Defensively the boys showed good discipline.

FJSC Under 11 Black played FC Sparta Juniors on Sunday.  In an exciting match, honours were even with FJSC scoring a last minute equaliser.  Oliver Hall-Gleeson scored twice and Harley Evans one.  There were assists from Harvey Gordon and Oliver Hall- Gleeson.  Man of the Match was goalkeeper Albie Graham.

FJSC U11 Reds were away to Soccer 11 Bayern at Tower Hill.  The hosts had the better of the first half and deservedly took the lead into the break. FJSC Reds improved in the second half which was a close competitive game. Highlight performances for FJSC Reds were good defensive displays by James Hannan, Mason Todd and Joel Craven, a tough battling display in the middle of the park by Campbell Woodcock and Tommy Collins along with a scrappy poacher’s goal for Tom Murphy. Man of the Match went to Chase Lowen for his tireless determined running up front.

FJSCs U10 Black played Marina Sands U10 at a wet Deansgate Lane, and despite the heavy conditions played some excellent football. FJSC playing a high defensive line which kept near constant pressure on the Marina Sands goal. After five minutes of high intensity effort the first goal was scored by Isaac Melton following an excellent corner by Jack Hansen. Along with the pass and move approach, the corner routines really stood out and were a constant menace for the opposition. Formby maintained their fluid style coupled with powerful direct running, and further goals were scored by Idris Jones, Alex Rowley, Jack Hansen, Ethan Catleugh, Asher Fields, and the assists were provided by Jack Hansen, Asher Fields, Mason Nisted, Ash Jones, Alex Rowley, Idris Jones, Isaac Melton, Ethan Catleugh, Olly Stinson, and Max Byford.

There were heroics from the Marina Sands keeper who made a string of excellent savesand the outfield players fought hard throughout and never allowed their heads to drop. Special mentions to Idris Jones who scored a hat-trick, and Alex Rowley for an incredible half pitch solo goal! Ash Jones, who scored six goals (including an overhead kick) bagged himself the Man of the matchtrophy.

FJSC Under 10 Reds played Southport Town.  Seb Hughton scored the Reds only goal thanks to an assist by Rafi Omar.

FJSC Under 10 Gold faced another tough opponent this week at home against Burscough Dynamo Green. Again it was a very strong effort for a newly formed team. Even though FJSC finished the match without a goal, they played extremely well thinking about space and positions. Player of the Matchwas Lewis McColl for his fast paced back tracking working defensive positions and alsobeing able to move up the pitch to support his team to get into the opponent’s half. There was another great match for Rowan Mullinwho started as a striker in the first half followed by playing as goalkeeper in the second half with some great saves and photo perfect finishes.

FJSC Under 9 White had a very difficult away fixture today against Churchtown Athletic, a team that has always proved to be a tough challenge for FJSC. The boys stayed in the game really well pressing to try and find the opening goal.  Unfortunately with this press Churchtown managed to break through scoring on numerous occasions.

FJSC had a couple of great chances on goal but Churchtown’s keeper was able to scrambleaway each shot.  Harry Hughes managed to score the only goal for FJSC which came from a goal line scramble.

The whole squad tried very hard and the Man of the Match Award went to the whole team for their tireless efforts.

FJSC Under 8 White went 1 nil down due to a long range effort early in the first half from Burscough but FJSC were on top.  It was the captain, Logan Haggart, with a composed finish in the bottom corner who got the goals started and Archie Jones and Franklin Chignell added a second and a third to ensure a two goal half time lead.

FJSC dominated possession and chances in the second half and managed to add two further goals scored by Franklin Chignell and a screamer from Thomas North.

There were two Man of the Match awards again which went to Thomas North andFranklin Chignell.    See the team photograph  above of the FJSC Under 8 White team in their new shirts which was kindly sponsored by Alfred H Knight .

FJSC Under 8 Black Sunday team’s first away game of the season was at The Rookery to play Southport Trinity  Whites. The match started off evenly before FJSC took the lead with a neatly placed shot on target from Teddy Ball.   With moments to spare Trinity equalised before the half time whistle.

Heading into the second half the Blacks were keen to keep up momentum with a great goal from Ted Middleton finding the back of the net, taking the visitors back in the lead only for a short time as Trinity soon equalised. With a game that ebbed and flowed Trinity went on to score taking the lead for the first time. Thanks to a handball the Blacks were awarded a penalty which Sam O’Brien neatly slotted into the far corner.  Trinity soon took the lead again with a good long range goal.  Southport Trinity were then awarded a penalty for hand ball but fortunately the subsequent penalty was brilliantly saved by Isaac Murphy.   Man of the Match was awarded to Teddy Ball.

Overall it was a fantastic team effort from all the boys, with a debut from Seb Downes working tirelessly in defence along with Harley Rea and Oscar Craven to keep Southport Trinity forwards at bay.

FJSC Under 7 Black had another good game this time with Churchtown Jaguars.  For the second match in succession the Blacks scored seven goals.  The Jaguars also scored seven. There was a hat trick for Teddy Marron.  Harry Brown scored twice and there was one goal each for Theo Thomas and Oliver Jones. Oliver was denied several goals in the first half by the Churchtown Jaguars goalkeeper. Player of the Match was Tayo Popoola for a great performance in and out of goal.
