Dispersal Zone set up in Formby from 4pm today until midnight tomorrow night
Merseyside Police have put a Dispersal Zone in place from 4:00pm TODAY, 4th November 2023 until
11:59pm Tomorrow, Sunday 5th November 2023 (Bonfire Night).
The dispersal zone is just one tool used to help combat anti-social behaviour in the area which has been causing damage to property in the locality and putting the community at risk of injury.
The zone will cover all areas within the boundaries of:
Long Lane Footpath, Church Road, Liverpool Road, Altar Lane, Hoggs Hill Lane, The Railway line, Kirklake Road, Woodlands Road, Wicks Lane, Freshfield Road.
What is a Dispersal Zone?
Under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2014, the Police can specify that an area is a dispersal zone.
In these areas, police officers or PCSOs have the power (under certain circumstances) to:
• Require anyone to leave the area and prevent them from returning for up to 48 hours.
• Require a person to surrender items that can be used to cause anti-social behaviour.
• Send under 16s home or to a place of safety.
• Arrest anyone who ignores the instruction.
