Congratulations to Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 13 Whites on winning their first match of the season

Congratulations to Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 13 Whites on winning their first match of the season.  At last after months of trying so hard the boys’ efforts were rewardedlast Sunday with a brilliant win.  For the club’s youngest team the Under 6’s, it was also a first victory in only their fourth ever match.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

Well done to all the FJSC Representative teams who played on Sunday in extremely cold conditions and some with depleted teamsand very few substitutes if any, due to the half term holiday.

FJSC Under 13 Whites conceded an early goal against Crosby Stuart Youth but once again showed wonderful determination and were rewarded when Patrick Bodziany scored with a great finish to make it 1-1 before half time.Confidence ran through the team and Ben Gregory gave the Whites the lead in the second half.  There was no way that the lead was going to be given up.

The next goal scored was undoubtedly going to be very important to both teams. FJSCpressed forward and Luke Greenbank scored a very well-taken third goal to give FJSC a 3-1 lead which they held to the end of the match.  There were jubilant scenes when the final whistle was blown as the FJSC boys celebrated a memorable first win.

Dylan Hyslop and George Rowan produced solid performances but for his real commitment and desire Evan McKeown was Man of the Match.  See team photograph above.

FJSC Under 6 Whites also celebrated their first win with a great performance against Finn Harps. Thomas Daley dominated the first part of the game with two early goals and made some strong tackles. Their opponents pulled one back but couldn’t contain FJSCwith Kayden Dowdall breaking away and scoring a hat trick of goals. Finn Harps scoreda couple more goals but Kayden Dowdall and Thomas Daley scored again.

The team worked hard across the pitch with Edison Foy and Toby Woodcock making important challenges. Debutant Leo McGuire put in a great performance making great saves in goal and finishing powerfully to bag his first goal for the team. Kayden Dowdell won a well-deserved MOTM awarded by the referee.

FJSC Under 15 Blacks Sunday team took the lead after just seventeen seconds against Mini Huyton Soccer Boca when Charlie Garvey scored.   Huyton replied with two goals before Taj-Deen Abdulai equalised for a 2-2 half time score.  A very depleted Under 15’s could not contain their opponents in the second half and lost 6-2.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks came into this top of the table clash with Churchtown Jaguarsknowing that for both teams at this stage of the season it was a must win game. FJSC started strongly and within the first fiveminutes took the lead after a shot from midfield was spilled which Isaac Jones pounced upon to put FJSC 1-0 up. The game ebbed and flowed as a solid defence display by Louis O’Connor and Alex Barr protected Oscar Phillips in goal. When the ball did break through Oscar pulled off a tremendous save.

Half way through the first half a great shot from Jags found the top corner to equalise at 1-1. This didn’t deter FJSC who pushed forward again and a good penalty won by Caden Walker saw Louis O’Connor dispatchthe ball into the top of the net. With the centre of midfield of Ellis Coyne and Alfie Frost controlling the play and releasing Ben Webster on the wing it felt-like a third goal was coming before the half time whistle went.

The second half saw FJSC kick on even more with Alfie Forsyth coming into midfield to help the team. A great passing combination between Ellis Coyne, Alfie Frost and Charlie Richardson saw Caden Walker released on the left wing who then calmly finished to make the score 3-1. Jags then tried to hit back and not for a wonder save from Oscar Phillips it would have been 3-2. Finley Scott and Leo Fagan then entered the game and great combination work up front saw Alfie Frost put through one on one with the Jags keeper and Alfie kept calm to make it 4-1. It was a great result for FJSC which keeps them in the hunt for the title.  MOTM Alex Barr and Oscar Phillips.

FJSC Under 12 Whites played Marina Sandsat home. Despite dominating territory and possession FJSC couldn’t find the goal needed. Efforts off the post from Matthew Crutchley, Albie Salters and Gregory Houghton were the closest the Whites came with some heroics from the opposition keeper to keep Marina level.  The final score was 0-0. Man of the Match was Noah Bate.

In a competitive league encounter, the FJSC Under 10 Gold squad faced off against Crosby Stuart. Having met the same opposition in a friendly just two weeks ago where the Goldteam suffered a heavy defeat, this performance showed marked improvement and growing tactical maturity. Despite having just one substitute to their five or six, the FJSC team displayed remarkable resilience and organisation throughout the match.

The highlight of the day was an exceptional defensive performance against Crosby's sophisticated passing and positional play. Central to this defensive masterclass was Skyla Newell, whose performance embodied the team's fighting spirit. Skyla not only defended with determination but also demonstrated her playmaking abilities with precise distribution from the back.

FJSC goalkeeper Lewis McColl produced anoutstanding display between the posts kept the score at four, making several crucial saves throughout the match. FJSC nearly claimed a memorable consolation goal when strikerPaolo Raffo unleashed a magnificent effort from near the halfway line, only to be denied by the crossbar.

This significantly improved performance against strong opposition, particularly compared to the recent friendly encounter, demonstrates the team's continuing development and growing tactical understanding. The reduced margin of defeat, despite the challenging circumstances, marks a clear step forward in the team’s progression.

On a bitterly cold morning, the FJSC U9 Blacks faced a daunting challenge at homeagainst their club rivals FJSC Whites. From the first whistle, the opposition's superior strength and skill were evident, and despite the home side’s determination, they found themselves trailing early.

With no substitutes available, the Blacksbattled bravely but was stretched even further when an injury reduced them to six players for most of the second half. Despite the numerical disadvantage, they showed great resilience, with the goalkeeper making several fine saves to keep the score-line respectable.

The visitors, however, continued to press, and their sharp finishing saw them extend their lead throughout the game. The home team never gave up, showing great heart and effort despite the freezing conditions and overwhelming odds. The final score was a tough result, but the spirit and commitment displayed by the players were commendable. With experience and a full squad, they will no doubt bounce back stronger in the coming weeks.

FJSC Under 8 Whites played very well against Crosby Stuart with two goals from Henry Ade and one each from Thomas North, Franklin Chignell and Lucas Byrne.  The goalkeeping duties were shared by Logan Haggart and Henry Ade and both distributed the ball very well.   Archie Jones, and Luke Clarke also played well giving Crosby Stuart no time on the ball.  The Man of the Match award was shared jointly by Maxwell Rathbone and Thomas North.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks hosted Southport TrinityBlues for the first time.

The game started strongly for Trinity who took an early advantage. The Blacks were undeterred and came back fighting and equalised with a well-placed free kick taken by Sam O’Brien.  With a game that ebbed and flowed with many chances it was 3-3 at the break.

FJSC started the second half well with another goal from Sam O’Brien giving him his hat trick. With a well-placed ball from Eddie Ball,Ted Middleton took his chance well.  In an exciting finish with only a few minutes left in the game Ted Middleton went on a final charge finding the back of the net twice for a well-earned hat trick and see his team go ahead in the match. The Coaches Man the Match went to Ted Middleton for his shear tenacity up front.

FJSC Under 7 Whites played Southport and Ainsdale Amateurs Blue.

It was a close and very evenly matched game that in truth could have gone either way. FJSCdominated possession with Southport providing the more clinical finishing. The Player of the Match was Jimmy Duckworth will a well-deserved double and was superb all over the pitch ran very closely this week by Corey Flynn who scored a brilliant goal from near the halfway line. Sammy Porter, LucaSheehan-Selby and Anders Carter were all unlucky not to score and played very well throughout.

It was a close match played in a very nice spirit.  The team will learn a lot from this game.

FJSC Under 7 Blacks had an early kick off on a cold winter's morning at Deansgate Lane. Albee Fairhurst in goal was called into action early to deny the Southport and Ainsdale Whites team. In midfield Ollie Jones was on the front foot to try and win the ball whilst Tayo Popoola showed his skills to create goal scoring chances. In defence Theo Thomas and Dylan Woods defended resolutely against a strong passing team.

In the second half FJSC upped the tempo and pressed higher up the pitch in search of a goal. Meanwhile Dylan Wood, Theo Thomas and Albee Fairhurst each denied the opposition goals on the counter attack with excellent tackles, blocks and saves.

Max Healey took the manager’s medal for hustling all game in midfield, closing down the other team and non-stop running. AlbeeFairhurst took the Man of the Match trophy with an outstanding goalkeeping performance in terms of saves, kicking and dominating his penalty area.
