Congratulations to FJSC Under 15 Black’s Saturday team who are the Hightown Junior Winter League Champions

Congratulations to FJSC Under 15 Black’s Saturday team who have become the Hightown Junior Winter League Champions.

FJSC REPRESESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 15 Saturday team played SilcoxVilla in the Hightown Winter League knowing that the winners of the match would be crowned Champions.

FJSC got off to a great start with two quickfire goals both scored by Archie Ogden.  Silcox Villa pulled a goal back but the score remained 2-1 at half time.  After only two minutes play in the second half Archie Ogden completed his hat trick after a run down the left flank which was followed by a shot from a narrow angle.  With the team full of confidence Taj-Deen Abdulai scored two worldies from twenty-five yards, the second goal assisted by Charlie Garvey, to complete the scoring for a resounding 5-1 victory.   Every member of the squad excelled and collectively were Man of the Match winners.  It was a wonderful performance and the FJSC Under 15’s deservedly were crowned Hightown Winter League Under 15 Champions.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks played in aSkelmersdale Junior League cup match against Ormskirk West End, in challenging conditions. The first half saw FJSC playing into a strong wind and Ormskirk took full advantage scoring five times, as FJSC found it difficult to break forward.

The second half was a much more even contest with FJSC having the majority of possession and controlling the game as they pushed to get a goal that their play deserved, but the game finished 5 nil.  Man of the Match was Evan Tucker who was strong in the tackle and marshalled the back line well.

FJSC Under 13 Whites played away at Crosby Stuart Youth.  It was an extremely close game and on another day the Whites could have come away with at least a draw or even better. After going one goal down FJSC fought back and pushed for the equaliser. Franek Banas, against the wind, lobbed the keeper from just outside the box for 1-1. Close chances fell to Dylan Hyslop, Luke, Greenbank and EvanMeehan.   Harry McCluskie had a shot from thirty yards that rattled the cross bar but FJSC just could not score the all-important second goal.   Sadly two late goals were scored by Crosby Stuart for a 3-1 win. The lads playedfantastically well in very bad conditions.

It was heart breaking for the FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday team who suffered a last gasp2-1 defeat to River Juniors.  It saw the teamsurrender third spot in the Winter League in what was a great game of football. With a depleted squad, there was no drop in class from FJSC as they actually had the better of the chances and possession. Another goal from star striker Ben Harris looked to have wrapped up a deserved point but alas it wasn’t to be after River got the winner late on. ThePlayer of the Match was the vocal HenryWynne who marshalled the back line very well.

FJSC Under 12 Whites travelled to Southport Hesketh in a

second and third in the league face off. In wet and blustery conditions at Bankfield Lane it was a scrappy but exciting match. Both teams went toe to toe with chances at a premium. FJSC went close from a couple of in swinging corners and Southport Hesketh nearly scoredfrom a free kick which was cleared off the line. Half time 0-0. It was more of the same in the second half with both teams battling hard. Southport Hesketh began to create the better of the chances and found the net with tenminutes to go. Despite the efforts the Whitesjust couldn’t find the equaliser.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks Saturday team played into the wind first half and struggled to deal with the balls over the top as Ormskirk started the game strongly. A disjointed team performance in the  first half saw the team go 3-0 down in a league where they were ten matches unbeaten. This proved a big shock to the team.

The second half was like a different team and with the wind behind them quick fire goals from Ellis Coyne and Isaac Jones saw the deficit cut to 3-2. Ormskirk then counter attacked and won a free kick which was swung into the area and the outcome was an unlucky own goal which made the score 4-2 in Ormskirk’s favour. FJSC then struck straight back via Caden Walker to make the score 4-3 before a chance to make the score 4-4 from a penalty was unfortunately missed. FJSCcontinued to bombard the Ormskirk goal butjust couldn’t find the back of the net and the score finished 4-3 to Ormskirk.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks Sunday team came into this game against top of the table Southport Trinity Blues knowing only a win would keep them in the hunt for the title. With the weather of wind and rain making playing conditions tough for both sides, FJSC decided to face into the wind in the first half.

Taking learnings from similar weather in their game against Ormskirk FC the day before, FJSC shored up their defence and faced into the pressure which Southport Trinity FC applied with the wind behind them in the first half. Around twenty minutes into the first half a Southport Trinity attack bore into fruition at last which put them 1 nil up. With FJSC facing a barrage of free kicks and corners, Oscar Phillips pulled off a number of crucial and spectacular saves to keep the score at 1-0 until half time.

FJSC knew that with the wind behind them they would have every chance in the second half of turning this game around. Straight from the kick off, FJSC got a foothold into the game and within two minutes a great interception by Isaac Jones saw him finish calmly to make the score 1-1. With Ellis Coyne driving the team forward from midfield it was no more than the team deserved when Ellis headed FJSC into a 2-1 lead with a well taken header from a corner.

With the game 2-1, Southport Trinity played on the counter attack and twice broke the offside line.  Only for a great last ditch tackle by Louis O’Connor and then another by Caden Walker Trinity would have scored. FJSC dug in to see the game out for a 2-1 winin what was a real team effort, a well-deserved result and a return to joint top of the leaguetable. Oscar Phillips and Ellis Coyne were joint Players of the Match.

FJSC Under 11 Whites Saturday team had a very close match with Netherton Athletic. Scoring for FJSC were Diego Funes-Cervera, Josh Halpin and Zak McHugh.

On Sunday FJSC Under 11 Whites played very well and scored six times against Ormskirk West End.  Andreos Mingas, Diego Funes-Cervera, Quinn McAuley and Zak McHugh were all on the scoresheet.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks Saturday team had a closely contested match against TQ Santos.  Oliver Hall-Gleeson scored.  Man of the Match was Henry Gardner.

FJSC Under 11 Reds played their first match for ten weeks.  It was a hard fought encounter with Formby Wanderers in cold and windy conditions.  The Reds defended resolutely as a team and despite sustained pressure the game was goalless at the interval.

The second half was similar and again the Reds displayed grit and determination to see the game to the end.  There were chances at both ends but no goals were scored and honours were even.  Joss Lowen and Joey Murphy made their debuts and made a good impact on the pitch.  The Man of the Match award went to the whole team for their great team effort.

An injury depleted FJSC Under 10 Blacks were set up against Southport FC Yellow . The Blacks were quick out the traps with Asher Fields netting with a left footed shot served up by an ever-energetic Ashley Jones. Ashley Jones continued to serve with yet another beautiful assist this time to Alex Rowley who ever so calmly doubled the advantage with a clever shot beating the Southport keeper. Soon after the dominant Blacks were finding their feet and Ashley Jones then swapped from server to goal scorer which gave his team a comfortable lead.

Southport FC to their credit didn’t stop trying and pushed the Blacks. Just before half time, Alex Rowley, hungry for more goals teamed up once again, with Ashley Jones netting again for his brace.

Goalkeeper Max Byford and outfield playerAlex Rowley swapped shirts at half time. Southport started stronger than they fared inthe first half but FJSC added three more goals.First of three goals was a twenty yard left footshot from Idris Jones assisted yet again by the relentless Ashley Jones. Shortly after the Blacks were really finding their flow with some nice passing and mazy runs.  Captain Isaac Melton who had tirelessly helped his team keep their clean sheet, assisted the now inevitable MOTM Idris Jones to score again.Asher Fields attempted bicycle kick  from a cross wasn’t too far wide and had it found the net would have been the icing on what was an outstanding performance.

Jack Hansen was busy up and down the right wing causing havoc, and  assisted Idris Jones to his third goal.  Max Byford now playing out as a left back gave Southport no access to goal defending whatever came his way making Alex Rowley’s job that bit easier.

To Southport’s credit, their coach encouraged his players right up to the end until the refereeblew the final whistle.  It was an outstanding performance by a depleted FJSC team showing how hard work and communication can pay off and reward the coaches hard work and commitment to the team.

FJSC Under 10 Gold team played their second match of the year against Southport Athletic Whites.   The cold early start didn’t seem to faze the team with them quickly getting into position and staying strong. Quickly in the first half Southport managed to score twice. Paolo Raffo linked up well with Charlie Herbert which finally paid off with Paolo scoring.

The second half resulted in tired legs and the Gold’s positional discipline started to crumble. Southport took advantage and scored threemore goals. The Gold team however managed to claw back another great goal from Paolo Raffo again. The match showed how muchimprovement has been made since the beginning of the season by the team.

FJSC Under 9 Whites after having a long interval since the last game took time to settle into the match against a much improved Southport Trinity Whites team. Trinity openedthe scoring with some impressive teamwork. FJSC were doing all the pressing but couldn’t find the net until Noah Martin-Gargonmanaged to score the only goal of the first half for FJSC with a brilliant first time effort finding the bottom corner. Charlie Vernon whowas a menace to the opposition managing to break down attacks from the midfield alongside Austin Faraday.

FJSC started the second half well and got themselves back into the game gaining morepossession, with a couple of long balls.   FJSC capitalised on some slight errors from Southport allowing them to find the net in quick succession. FJSC were back in the gameand with the scores level Elliott Dymentmanaged to latch onto a well- placed through ball from Charlie Ormesher to put the Whites into the lead. There were some great defensive displays from both Otto Johnson and Joshua Gillespie who kept Southport at bay .  There were also some brilliant saves fromgoalkeeper Charles Fazakerley.  All the boys produced impressive displays making Man of the Match a tough decision so once again it was given to the whole team.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks found themselves playing on a cold blustery morning at Deansgate Lane against Southport Athletic Orange after a last minute change of venue. The Blacks started well aiming to capitalise on last week’s win, following a good end to end game the Blacks unfortunately find themselves 1 nil down. Sam O’Brien soon capitalised on a well taken free kick to get the Blacks on an even footing.

Into the second half the Blacks foundthemselves again on the back foot. Following a good attacking play from the FJSC forwards,James Taylor found the back of the net in his debut appearance for the Blacks.  Despite good defensive skills from Oscar Craven, FJSC couldn’t hold back a well organised Southport Athletic team.  Harley Rea was thecoaches Man of the Match for an outstanding performance in goal.

After a delayed start on a cold winter’s morning in Bedford Park Southport, FJSC Under 7 Whites faced off against Southport Athletic Reds. Captain Oli Jones scored the opening goal of the game with a strong run and neat finish. For the second goal TayoPopoola won the ball and passed through for Oli to score again. Dylan Wood and TheoThomas both made good defensive blocks to keep the half time score very close.

In the second half Harry Brown scored one and assisted for Oli to complete his hat trick. In midfield Max Healey worked tirelessly to win the ball and move the Under 7’s further up the pitch.  Overall it was a lively contest with plenty of goals and good play by both teams. Albee Fairhurst was given Man of the Match for a number of fine saves in goal.  Oli Joneswon the Hat trick trophy.
