Bad weather causes match cancellations but the ones that went ahead were great! Franks report here
Only half of Formby Junior Sports Clubs Representative team matches were played at the weekend due to the appalling weather. Inter Club went ahead on Saturday morning which included the start of the Year 6/7 Tournament. Other highlights included a wonderful match between the two FJSC Under 6 teams and some top performances by three of FJSC’s Sunday teams - the Under 11 Blacks, the Under 9 Whites and the under 9 Blacks who all maintained their one hundred per cent records.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
In the Sefton Development League FJSC Under 6 Whites played FJSC Under 6 Blacks at the San Siro, not in Milan, but at Goals in Netherton.
It was a great match from start to finish. The games are played in three periods which allows all the boys to have plenty of time on the artificial playing surface to develop their skills and teamwork hence the title of the league.
It was end to end football. The Blacks took the lead only for the Whites to equalise and then to score again to lead 2-1. The Whites forged ahead to lead 4-1 but the Blacks fought back with three goals and with just a few minutes remaining the score was 4-4. There were plenty of chances for both teams as the excitement grew. Eventually the Whites scored the final two goals in this ten goal thriller. All fifteen boys are to be congratulated for playing so well.
For FJSC’s Under 6 Whites the Manager’s Man of the Match was Cormac Nice and the Referee’s Man of the Match was Leo Rogers. Scoring for the Whites were Noah Ignatowiczand Leo Rogers.
Man of the Match for FJSC Under 6 Blacks was captain Thomas Mitchell with some fantastic running and tackling. Dylan Woods also had a very good match in defence. Scoring for the Blacks were Thomas Mitchell, Theo Thomas and Ollie Jones.
See the photograph above of all the boys of the two FJSC Under 6 squads.
FJSC Under 11 Blacks were in action against Formby Community FC.
The first ten minutes of the game was scrappy with Formby Community taking an early lead through a mis-kicked clearance. FJSC soon struck back after the first of many pin point corners from Luke Millington with a clinical finish by Charlie Burton from inside the box to level things up. Formby Community then took the lead again through again uncharacteristic slack defending at the back to make it 2-1 with a good finish into the bottom corner.
FJSC struck back soon after again through another Luke Millington corner with Ben Webster finishing this time to make it 2-2. Luke Millington then stopped being provider and finished a great solo run down the wing to ensure FJSC went in 3-2 up at half time.
After a tactical team talk at half time FJSC pushed on and a well worked goal from Ben Webster saw FJSC go 4-2 up. Caden Walker and Louis O’Connor combined well soon after as the latter put FJSC 5-2 ahead. Alfie Forsyth and Ellis Coyne battled well in midfield providing support for the running of Charlie Richardson while Leo Fagan, Charlie Burton and Alex Barr provided a much more settled defence in the second half to limit any chances for Formby Community. Half way through the second half Caden Walker picked up a good pass on the edge of the area and finished in thebottom corner to make it 6-2. Finally, another Louis O’Connor goal after good work from Finley Scott completed the scoring after a much improved second half performance by FJSC. Man of the match was Luke Millington for his four assists and a goal.
FJSC Under 12 Whites played top of the league JN Sport Inter after having no matchesfor three weeks. It showed and the Under 12’s were quickly 4 nil down. The tide turned after the defence had been solidified and chanceswere created. William Madutlela went on a fantastic solo run and calmly slotted home. FJSC looked more likely to score next for the rest of the half but did not quite manage to do so. It remained 4-1 until half time.
JN Sport scored early in the second half. The Under 12’s responded well and kept JN at bay for the next twenty minutes creating plenty of chances of their own. JN scored again with tenminutes to go and the fight seemed to leave some of the FJSC team then. With their tails up, JN scored a few more goals in the final few minutes. Apart from the first and last ten minutes FJSC competed very well against a very good team.
FJSC Under 11 Whites played Southport Trinity for the second week running. FJSC were never in the game against a very good Trinity team. Trinity scored regularly throughout the match despite heroics from Matthew Crutchley in goal and Noah Lace in defence.
FJSC Under 10 Reds game with Marina Sands Blues was a competitive keenly fought game. The two teams were evenly matched in the first half and the play was end to end. Marina Sands broke the deadlock to take a one nil lead into half time. The second half was a similar contest but the visitors started quicker than the hosts and doubled their lead shortly after the restart. This left the Reds chasing the game and although the Reds went close on a number of occasions unfortunately the goaltheir effort deserved wouldn’t come. Highlights for the Reds included another good goalkeeping performance from Brett McKeown, a strong wingback performance from Mason Todd, a battling midfield performance from Joel Wright and tireless attacking play from Tommy Collins. MOTM for the Reds was captain Tom Murphy with a battling performance which included a fine goal line clearance.
FJSC’s Under 9 Whites were in top form against Crosby Stuart Youth. Henry Williamson, Seb Hodgson and James Smith all scored hat tricks. There was also a goal each for Jack Haggart and Theo White.
FJSC Under 9 Blacks played another phenomenal game against Southport and Ainsdale Blues. The boys weathered a little bit of early pressure, however the passing and incredible team spirit drove them onto anotherpositive result. Jackson Ebo and Jack Hansen’s consistently strong performances saw them both gain hat tricks. Ashley Jones scored a brace and had a hat trick of assists. Other assists came from Noah Underwood, Jack Hansen, Idris Jones and Jackson Ebo.
The final goal was a brilliant piece of play and a real team effort. All of the boys worked really hard, looking for the pass, maintaining position and driving forward to score some terrific goals. Frankie Bohan was man of the match for another strong performance in defence.
FJSC Under 9 Reds started the game wellagainst Crosby Stuart but were unlucky to go behind from a great strike from outside the box. FJSC battled hard and had numerous chances to equalise. Some brilliant play in left midfield from Josh Robinson and Isaac Ignatowicz put Adam Tyler-Holland through on goal which he controlled well to score. Crosby came back to score again, and the half ended 2-1 to Crosby.
The second half started poorly for FJSC with Crosby scoring with another long-range effort which found its way into goal. FJSC pushed to get back into the game and were unlucky on a few occasions not to score. Crosby Stuartcountered very well and hit FJSC with several attacks scoring their fourth and fifth. A brilliant effort from FJSC keeper Luke Madutlela stopped Crosby scoring more as he rushed out to clear numerous times. This display earned Luke a well-deserved MOTM accolade.
FJSC Under 7 Whites started slowly against Redgate Rovers Green allowing Redgate tostorm into a three goal lead which the boys struggled to recover from. The contest after that first ten minutes was very even. The Under 7’s scored two well taken goals. Special mention to Logan Haggart who managed to score a goal from a free kick in his own half with some quick thinking to catch the goalkeeper off guard. Archie Jones was also a scorer. Redgate added two more goals to their tally before the end in a very good match.
