Axel Rudakubana has now pleaded guilty to the murders of Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Da Silva Aguilar
Axel Rudakubana, 18, from Banks, has pleaded guilty to the murders of the three young girls during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. He will be sentenced this Thursday 23rd January 2025 at Liverpool Crown Court.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of Bebe King, aged 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged 7, and Alice Da Silva Aguiar, aged 9. Rudakubana was due to stand trial today, Monday 20th January, but admitted to all charges, including the murders and eight counts of attempted murder involving unnamed children. He also pleaded guilty to the attempted murders of Leanne Lucas and Jonathan Hayes, possession of a bladed article, production of the biological toxin ricin, and possession of terrorist materials, including a training manual linked to Al-Qaeda.
During the hearing, Justice Goose addressed Rudakubana, stating: “You will understand it’s inevitable that a life sentence will be imposed upon you.” Rudakubana was remanded in custody until sentencing at 11:00 am on Thursday.
The court acknowledged the absence of family members at the hearing, noting it was likely due to the unexpected timing of the guilty pleas.
This devastating incident has left the Southport community in shock and mourning. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, the survivors, and everyone affected by this tragedy.
