Arson attack at Go Outside Formby in Shorrocks Hill when the Reindeer cabin was burned to the ground

Go Outside, the much loved Formby activity centre based at Shorrocks Hill Formby has suffered a major arson attack and vandalism over the last weekend, Saturday 10th April.

Youths have broken into the site and burnt down the reindeers cabin! The before and after photos show that there is nothing left at all, the reindeer cabin was completely burned to the ground. The flames have reached over 20ft high and burned all the trees and it was extremely lucky that there wasn’t any more damage.

Since that incident on Saturday night, more youths have trespassed on the site and caused destruction that is completely unnecessary and malicious. The CCTV footage has been handed to the police. One of the youths even took his small dog along with him!

A spokesperson from Go Outside said: “Sadly we have come in today to find our reindeer Lodge which was built back in November, has been burned to the ground. This is very disheartening after all the work our team have been putting in over the last few months, during a lockdown, to bring much joy to families when we re-open this Saturday. This wasn't the only damage done, and to say it is a low blow is an understatement.”

“As well as being home to families, the forest is home to lots of wildlife and this is totally unacceptable behaviour.”

“We are having problems with groups of youths at the moment unlawfully entering the forest and causing damage. A large group were seen before this incident.”
