Appeal for information following suspected vehicle arson in Formby
Merseyside Police are appealing for information following a suspected arson in Formby on Saturday, 24 April.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “At around 8.15pm we received a report that a blue Vauxhall parked on Victoria Road, Formby, had been set alight.”
“Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze.”
“Significant damage was caused to the vehicle but no injuries were reported.”
“The incident was reported to have taken place between 6.15pm and 8.15pm on Saturday.”
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the person or persons responsible for starting the fire.
Sergeant Chris Hughes said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt in this incident, but there were a number of people parked nearby and walking in the area who were put in danger by this reckless behaviour.”
“If you saw or heard anything or anyone suspicious in the Formby Pinewoods area between 6.15pm and 8.15pm on Saturday, or captured anything on mobile phone video or dashcam, then please come forward and we will take action.”
“Whether you contact us directly or anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers, rest assured, your information will be acted upon.”
