All Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams are doing the club proud! Franks report here..
All Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams are doing the club proud. Every team has shown immense improvement since the start of the season and two of the teams still remain undefeated. FJSC’s Inter Club Section is also going extremely well and next Saturday sees the start of a mini four team competition for the Year 5/6 group bringing back memories of how Inter Club football first started sixty-four years ago when the club started.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 7 Whites played an away fixture at Southport Athletic Reds. After a slow start the Under 7’s moved up a gear and after some brilliant build up play Jack Brown scored. Southport equalised with a long shot. Soon after FJSC regained the lead when Harry Hughes managed to slip past the opposition giving himself a narrow sight of the goal and his fierce shot gave the Southport goalkeeper no chance.
The second half saw both teams score goals in an exciting end to end encounter. Harry Hughes and Jack Brown both scored again. With not long to go Oliver Parrish scored from close range to keep his team ahead until the final whistle. Man of the match was awarded to Otto Johnson after an outstanding display in goal and also in defence. It was a very good team effort.
FJSC Under 8 Whites were involved in a great match with Southport Trinity Blues. FJSC were always in the ascendancy but the scoreline was always close mainly due to some excellent saves from the Southport Trinity goalkeeper. Man of the match Jack Haggart scored a hat-trick which his all-round play deserved. Also on the scoresheet were Jack Hansen, James Smith, Henry Williamson and Seb Hodgson. The Whites are getting stronger each week.
FJSC Under 8 Blacks were in action against Southport Athletic. Without their regular goalkeeper all the boys took their turn in goal. The Blacks played very well with Isaac Daniels, Ethan Catleugh and Nathan Hyslopall on target with one goal each. The Blacks were a little unlucky with some other scoring chances in this entertaining eight goal match.
FJSC Under 9 Blacks travelled to Southport FC. George Croughan gave FJSC an early lead. Southport came back strongly forcing FJSC goalkeeper Oliver Hall- Gleeson into a series of great saves. Finn McDerby and Harrison Hughes defended well. Rory Rankine doubled FJSC’s lead just before half time. The Blacks rotated players in this tiring and stamina sapping match with Huey Stevenson, Ryan Lamb, Romijn Lijnders and Henry Moors all playing their part. A third goal scored by George Croughan in the final minute rounded off an impressive team display and a clean sheet. The man of the match award was shared between goalkeeper Oliver Hall-Gleeson and midfielder Huey Stevenson.
FJSC Under 10 Whites had a home game with Southport FC Whites. The Southport goalkeeper made a fine start and kept FJSC at bay in the early stages. A free kick from Archie Weir was well saved but Gregory Houghton was on hand to open the scoring. Further goals from Archie Weir and ZacHooson-Jones led to a comfortable lead at half time. It was more of the same in the second half as the team shared the goals around. The pick of the goals came from GregoryHoughton after a superb pass from man of the match Nate Daniels. Also scoring were Rowan Jones, Isaac Jones and Jacob Davies. It was nice to see Southport score a consolation goal towards the end.
FJSC Under 11 Whites came up against a strong Southport FC team. In the first half FJSC conceded three goals without reply. It was a much improved second half team display by the Under 11’s who had won their last two matches. The team’s determined effort was rewarded when Ben Harris and Joby Vary with a fine strike both scored one goal each to see the team at least draw the second half 2-2.
FJSC Under 12 Black played Southport Trinity White at Deansgate Lane on Sunday and straight from the kick off the FJSC team looked very composed on the ball, with a period of sustained pressure down the left wing. The breakthrough came early on as Josh Kearney found space in the box and played the ball onto Ethan Richmond who finished well to make it 1nil. The second goal came from a set piece as Ollie Dean took a corner from the right and found Aaron Pickard with an out swinging cross. Aaron met the ball and headed powerfully into the net to make it 2-0. Southport pulled one back with a goal following a well-timed through ball. Josh Kearney was soon on hand to restore the two-goal advantage as he finished off a good move with a close range shot to make it 3-1. Charlie Knowles broke down the right wing and saw his cross narrowly miss the advancing forwards. Henry Renton then ran onto a pass from Ollie Dean and after some clever play to beat the defence scored to make it 4-1 going into half time.
The Blacks continued to play some excellent football in the second half, pressing the opposition at every opportunity and it wasn’t long before FJSC extended their lead following an excellent first time finish from Luke Patel who shot from the edge of the box to complete a fine move. The final goal for the Blacks came from Ethan Richmond who finished off a flowing attack started off in defence by Evan Hughes. A last-minute penalty awarded to Southport saw the final score finish 6-2 for FJSC.
It was another strong team performance from the Under 12 Blacks but man of the match was awarded to Ethan Richmond for his overall display and two goal contribution.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks Sunday team remain top of the league following a win against Freshfield Reds. Archie Ogden, Dominic Maxwell, Hugo Johnson, Charlie Garvey, Freddie Garvey and Berat Ulusoy were all scorers for FJSC. Man of the match was Archie Ogden.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday lost 2-1 to Fazakerley Rangers. Isaac Loxham-Keenan scored. Man of the match was Freddie Garvey.
