A great atmosphere for Formby Junior Sports Club celebrating another good weekend with many very exciting matches

There was another great atmosphere at Formby Junior Sports Club’s Inter Club last Saturday as the young footballers continue to improve their skills in the coaching sessions and fun matches. For the club’s Representative teams it was another good weekend with many very exciting matches.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC  Under 15’s had a very exciting, end to end match with Lydiate FC in the HightownLeague Premier Division.  Lydiate opened the scoring after only two minutes but FJSC gradually settled down and equalised through Archie Ogden.  The score line was always close and after fifty minutes it was 3-3.  Four more goals were scored by FJSC in a twenty- five minute second half spell that changed the game.  Man of the Man Archie Ogden scored three times and Alfie Holden was also on target in the 6-4 win.  There were assists from Berat Ulusoy, Charlie Garvey, Taj-DeenAbdulia and Freddie Garvey.

FJSC Under 15’s Sunday team played a very spirited Fazakerley Rangers in the Tuebrook League and had a very convincing 11 nil win.  Cole Heron was Man of the Match scoring five goals.  Charlie Garvey scored a brace and Daniel Hill, Freddie Garvey, Isaac Loxham-Keenan and Luca Massey all scored one goal each. There were some excellent goals scored including two thirty yard screamers from Charlie Garvey.

FJSC Under 14’s played against Skem YouthIn the Skelmersdale JFL and earned a well-deserved point in a 1 -1 draw. Having the benefit of a full squad available, FJSC started confidently, passing the ball quicky through midfield as Skem Youth defended strongly. The breakthrough came from a break down the right wing that saw Ethan Murphy trick his way into the penalty box, where he was brought down and a penalty was awarded.Patrick Fleming stepped up and hit his penalty high into the net to make it 1nil. Skem Youth responded quickly from the kick off and a long ball forward caught out FJSC’s defence and they went onto equalise.

Both teams created chances in the second half and FJSC were unlucky not to add to their tally as Ollie Dean hit the cross bar from a corner.  There were no further goals scored as the two defences held firm.  Man of the Matchwas awarded to Patrick Fleming, who as well as scoring, marshalled the back line superbly.

FJSC Under 13 White played Crosby Stuart Youth in a Craven Minor Championship Division encounter. FJSC produced a really tough battling performance and created a few  good chances during the first half.  Crosby scored twice before half time including ascreamer of a free kick.

The Whites kept in the game until conceding a third goal. Jasper Chignell scored a brilliant goal lobbing the keeper from the edge of the goal area to lift the spirits of the team.  Thegame ended in a 3-1 defeat but it was another much improved team display. Harry Ball was amazing in goal with a stand out Man of the Match performance with a brilliant sweeper keeper display.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks gained a comfortable 7-2 victory over Marina Sands with a threadbare squad. Five players from the Sunday Whites squad joined up with the Blacks squad to combine very well. FJSC scored with an early goal from Will Madutlelawhich was followed by two in quick succession from Ben Harris. Franek Banaswas in the right place to score the fourth and Ben Harris completed his hat trick before half time.

Two more goals were scored by Evan Meehanand Reuben Burke in the second half to make it 7 nil before concentration slipped allowing Marina Sands to score two late goals. LucasLewis made everything tick as he glided through the field.  Jenson Heron and Will Madutlela were fantastic in the middle and Seth McNamara looked really strong at right back. Bananas Tattoo Player of the Match was the skipper Oskar Wood who marshalled the game from the back.

FJSC Under 13 Black Sunday team were again reduced to a smaller squad but due to a very determined team effort won 4-1 against a good Ormskirk West End team. HarryRedhead calmed the nerves with the opener before the visitors equalised shortly after. BenHarris slotted home just before half time for 2-1 lead.

The fight continued in the second half as Oskar Wood, Henry Wynne, Jenson Heron, Will Madutlela, Seth McNamara and LucasLewis all put their bodies on the line for the team. New signing Seb Stevens helped out in goal and was fantastic whilst Fabian Reillyand Joe Tucker were tireless on the flanks. Two second half goals extended FJSC’s lead.  Will Madutlela scored an amazing individual goal and Seth McNamara scored his first of the season. Envirolawn Player of the Match was Lucas Lewis with another very impressiveperformance.

FJSC Under12 White travelled to the Ainsdale Club to play a strong Southport and Ainsdale team who had started the season strongly winning four out of four matches played. S &A started much the better team and were first to every ball in the first half. Despite the best efforts of goalkeeper and MoTM Harry Jones FJSC found themselves 3-0 down at half time.An improved second half performance saw FJSC quickly pull one goal back with ZacHooson-Jones’s excellent corner turned home by Nik Kostakis.   However it proved to be a short lived fightback as S & A were much the better team on the day and secured a comfortable 4-1 victory. Well done to HarryJones for some outstanding saves and there were also some notable performances in defence from Jacob Underwood and Noah Bate.

FJSC U12 Black started the Hightown Premier League season against a strong Bootle FC side. The team started really well with Oscar Phillips in goal directing the defence of Sylvan O’Hara and Alex Barr well to limit Bootle in the final defensive third. With a midfield of Ellis Coyne, Ben Webster, Caden Walker and Luke Millington, FJSC started to get control of the game.

Half way through the first half, another marauding run down the right wing by Caden Walker saw him set up Isaac Jones for a superb finish to make the score 1-0. FJSC kept pushing forwards with Charlie Richardson holding the ball up at the front but the team went in at half time with just the one goal advantage.

FJSC started the second half well and soon after the break Ellis Coyne made it 2nil after good work by Luke Millington and a great assist from Charlie Richardson. Louis O’Connor and Leo Fagan then added an extra dimension to midfield as FJSC took control of the game. Isaac Jones then added a second goal after being set up by Caden Walker again on the right wing before Charlie Richardson got the goal his performance deserved. With Sylvan O’Hara and Alex Barr ensuring another clean sheet, the scoring was completed with a great side footed finish from the edge of the area by Ben Webster.

This was FJSC best performance of the season to date with every player digging deep to get the result. MOTM - Charlie Richardson andAlex Barr.

FJSC Under 12 Black came into the gamewith Crosby Stuart looking to extend their unbeaten run but had to dig deep to get a result in the game. FJSC struggled to get any control in the midfield as Crosby Stuart battled well. Midway through the first half, Luke Millington delivered a pin point perfect corner into the box which Caden Walker converted to make the score 1nil. Ten minutes later a carbon copy cross from a Luke Millington  corner saw Caden Walker convert again for his second goal. The first half finished with FJSC on the back foot though and only great defensive work by Luke Millington and a superb save from Oscar Philips kept the score 2-0.

The second half was much like the first half with FJSC not being able to gain any control of a scrappy game. With fifteen minutes to go great play and a brilliant lay off by Charlie Richardson allowed Ellis Coyne to smash a shot into the back of the net from the edge of the area to make 3nil.

The match was not over as Crosby Stuart soon scored from a resulting corner to make it 3-1 after poor marking and with five minutes left a replica corner from Crosby Stuart and no pressure on an attacking header saw Crosby make it 3-2. The final few minutes saw FJSC hold on for the win but only just.

FJSC Under 11 Black Saturday team put in a strong team performance against a very goodAintree Athletic team but narrowly lost.

FJSC Under 11 Red were at home against one of the strongest teams in the age group,Southport Trinity Blue.  The Reds battled hard and with a well organised defensive display managed to keep the game competitive with determined efforts from Mason Todd, James Hannan, Joel Craven and Oliver Crouch.  With a packed midfield which included Tommy Collins, Campbell Woodcock, Isaac Pepper and Tom Murphy the visiting had to work very hard for their eventual victory.  The introduction of Jace Dugdale and Haden Radcliffe increased the Reds energy levels significantly.  Chase Lowen the only striker worked tirelessly up front and was unfortunate not to get on the score sheet.  Parents’ Player of the Match went to Brett McKeown for a strong display in goal.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks lined up against Crosby Stuart. The Blacks started well and gained the advantage early on with a great corner from Ethan Catleugh which ended up in the back of the net. Ashley Jones scored the next goal which was a screamer from outside the box which finished in the top corner. He also assisted three of the goals. Asher Fields completed a brilliant assist to set up Jack Hansen to score one of his two goals during the game.

Crosby Stuart put on the pressure but FJSC Blacks came back with further goals from Idris Jones, Asher Fields and Alex Rowley. The team were missing goalkeeper Max Byford so Olly Stinson and Alex Rowley stepped in between the sticks. Alex Rowley’s performance in goal and outfield earned him the MOTM trophy. It was another good performance by the FJSC Under 10 Blacks team.

FJSC U10 Gold team played at home against Southport FC Yellows. The team showed great improvement from previous matches showing quick thinking and finding space. Very early in the first half, Mason Davies scored with a great assist by Freddie Canavan. However Southport FC Yellows proved their stamina whilst FJSC began to tire late in the first half.

FJSC came out refreshed in the second half and continued finding space and showing high defensive positioning.  This finally paid off with Mason Davies scoring two more goals to complete his hat trick.  The team continues to improve .  Player of the Match was Freddie Canavan.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks played away against a strong well organised S & A team. The Blacks took an early lead with a fine goal slotted in by Ted Middleton.  S & A were soon on the counter and were awarded a penalty which despite Isaac Murphy’s best attempts to save, the ball found the back of the net.

After regrouping Teddy Ball capitalised on a distracted S & A to take the lead to 2-1.  AgainS & A countered and after a few fine saves from Isaac Murphy they equalised again. With a game that was constantly changing theBlacks took the lead once again with a brace from Ted Middleton.  Just before the half S &A again equalised.

FJSC had a goalkeeper change for the second half  with Harley Rea in goal making some great saves. Eventually S & A took the lead with two goals.   The Blacks pulled one goal back when Sam O’Brien with a fine long range shot scored a wonderful goal. The Blacks were back in contention when Sam O’Brien scored again. Despite good defending from Sebastian Downes and Oscar Craven they couldn’t hold back a regrouped S & A who went on to win a thrilling match.

Overall it was a great effort from all the players, who all worked tirelessly together showing how far they have come in a few short weeks. There were two Coaches Man of the Match awards this week  for Isaac Murphy for his goalkeeping skills to keep the Blacks in the game and defensive play later in the match. Ted Middleton was also rewarded for his strong battling against some very strong S& A defenders and for nearly adding a goal for a hat trick.

FJSC Under 7 Black played brilliantly against Redgate Yellow.  FJSC went one goal down in the first half but clawed themselves back to lead at half time.  FJSC went further ahead before Redgate scored late on.

It was a really good, end to end game. Man of the Match was Theo Thomas who had a great game, started most of our attacks and baggedtwo goals.  The other Man of the Match award went to Albee Fairhurst who was playing in his first ever match as a goalkeeper. Albee was fantastic and made some great saves and his distribution and kicking was the differencebetween the two teams.
