A brilliant weekend for Formby Community FC
FCFC Weekly Round up 04/11/24
It was a brilliant weekend at FCFC! We welcomed a record number of new girls on Saturday, and our boys’ sessions were fully booked too. The Comets joined us at Deansgate, making for a lively day of football!
Here’s how our teams got on:
U6s
After a week’s break, the U6s returned in style, going straight back to winning ways! They took on Netherton Phoenix in an evenly matched Game One, finishing with an FCFC win. In Game Two, the team dominated Akidemy, with everyone getting on the scoresheet! The U6s keep getting stronger every week. 💪🍊
U7 Falcon Boys
The U7 Boys had a fantastic experience at last week's tournament, narrowly missing out on the semi-finals but giving it their all. Meanwhile, the Falcons U7s celebrated a brilliant win with some stellar teamwork and top passing moves. Muzza was awarded MOTM for his tireless running and a solid stint in goal!
U9 Boys
The U9 Boys cruised to victory, scoring from the first attack and staying in control throughout the game. They displayed confident, fluid football, especially in the second half, moving the ball beautifully across the team. Next week’s game will be a tough one, so it’s great to go in on a high! 🙌
U10 Fire Boys
The U10 Fire Boys were champions at their Half Term Tournament, going undefeated and conceding no goals in six games! They also took on the league leaders and, despite losing a striker early due to illness and another to injury, they fought hard. A great effort in a challenging early-morning match!
U10 Rocket Boys
In a close game, the U10 Rockets scored early when Charlie M poked in a goal from Quinn’s long-range effort. The lead shifted back and forth with brilliant play: Quinn’s shot from outside the box, standout defending from Charlie G, and fantastic saves by Luke. Tom’s non-stop running and Ezra’s two goals led the Rockets to a well-earned win.
U11 Falcon Boys
The Falcons enjoyed the Sparta tournament over half term, reaching the final but narrowly losing 1-0. They looked great in their new kit, thanks to CK Building Supplies, though luck wasn’t on their side in today’s match against the league leaders. Here’s to better luck next week!
U13 Oranges
Despite leading 2-0 at half-time with goals from Beau and Nathan, the U13 Oranges faced a tough 3-2 loss to Marshall’s. An offside goal, a corner, and a slip-up saw the game turn, but as the manager says, “Kids footie, hey… good job I don’t drink whiskey!” Onwards and upwards!
U13 Purples
The U13 Purples’ match against Silcox Villa was a true nail-biter, ending 2-2. An early own goal had them trailing, but a 30-yard free kick from Sam and a poacher’s finish from Beau had them back on top. They almost extended the lead, only for a late equaliser to level the match. Great progress from the team! 💜🤍
U14 Barca Boys
With the ref missing, the U14 Barca Boys played a friendly with Mags Boca, one of the league’s top teams. It was a wild one, ending 9-5. They struggled in the first half but won the second—a rare high-scoring game for the league!
U14 Boys
A solid 4-1 victory for the U14 Boys against FC Litherland, who put up a physical and hardworking match. A great result for a team putting in solid performances!
U18 Boys
The U18 Boys had a tough game against L4, who’ve had strong results this season. After an early lead with a composed finish from James LB, L4 fought back. Despite being down to 10 players, the FCFC boys battled till the end, creating several chances but ultimately finishing 2-4. Tremendous work rate from all involved!
U8 Girls
The U8 Foxes faced a powerful Crosby Stuart team. They kept it close in the first half with determined defending, but the second half saw their opponents break through. Despite the high scoreline, the girls’ effort was fantastic!
U9 Girls
The U9 Tigers faced The Fillies, a physical team from last season. After a pep talk on bravery and playing smart, they delivered their best team performance yet, with everything from long-range free kicks to goal-line saves. A well-earned win and a big step forward for the team! 🐯⚽
U10 Girls
The Panthers took on new league team St Anne’s in their first game trialling “rest weeks.” Despite missing some experienced players, they pushed through a challenging match. Roll on next week!
U11 Girls
The U11 Girls won with quality goals from Holly and Penny and two second-half own goals. Their defence held strong, with Sofia making a great late save to preserve the clean sheet. Solid effort all round!
U12 Girls
The U12 Phoenixes took on Maghull, focusing on physicality and possession. They started strong, scoring early but conceding a soft goal. After taking the lead late in the first half, they kept control and held out for a solid win.
U13 Girls
Despite a few players missing, the U13 Girls managed a 2-0 win over Southport Trinity, thanks to a defender’s free kick and a winger’s follow-up goal. They’re three-for-three this season!
U14 Girls
The U14 Girls faced Marina Sands without subs and four key players. Despite the 10-0 result, they fought hard and showed some good sequences, including stellar saves from the keeper. Grassroots scores don’t tell the whole story—heads up, girls!
U15 Girls
The U15s drew 2-2 with Remyca. Molly scored a brilliant free kick and later knocked in a penalty rebound. The team held up strong despite no subs, showing they can compete with the top teams.
U18 Girls
In a tight game against West Kirby, the U18 Girls played the better football, staying ahead and battling through contentious calls. They eventually won 3-2, sealing three points in an entertaining match.
Women’s Tigers
The Tigers had a mixed week, drawing 1-1 with Heron but bouncing back with a 3-1 win over Rainford Ladies. They’re on the lookout for new players and a coach—know anyone interested? Reach out!
Another action-packed week for FCFC! Here’s to more goals, wins, and teamwork next weekend. 🍊⚽
