Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report
The Formby Junior Sports Club’s two Under 11 teams and the Under 7 Whites had another good weekend with impressive performances. Only a few other Representative teams had matches. The Inter Club Section had a Saturday rest day due to the start of half term but there will be a full programme again next weekend. FJSC Under 11 Saturday team played Warbreck in a friendly match. Berat Ulusoy gave FJSC the perfect start with an early goal. Warbreck soon drew level in what was becoming a very tight match. Gradually the Under 11’s gained control with Henry Jones and Josh Adderley in fine form. Sharp shooter Berat Ulusoy scored three more goals. Charley Garvey and man of the match Luca Massey were also scorers with one goal each. Freddie Garvey played in goal for the first time in two years and made some good saves. On Sunday FJSC Under 11’s were in action away at Southport FC. The boys passed the ball exceptionally well and there were some excellent team goals and some great individual goals as well. Dominic Maxwell, Max Hall, Archie Ogden, Charlie Garvey, Callum Gray, Luca Massey and Freddie Garvey were all on the scoresheet. Franky Moon played very well in defence and was the man of the match. Southport FC although under a lot of pressure throughout the game gave everything from start to finish. FJSC Under 7 Whites had a fantastic match with Redgate Rovers Yellow. FJSC found themselves 2 nil down in the first five minutes but with great determination clawed themselves back into the match with goals from Max Berrie and Harry Nelson. Redgate went into the lead again. Thomas Szabo equalised with a great goal. When a draw seemed likely, Redgate scored the winner in the final minute. It was a very good effort from the Whites. FJSC Under 10 Blacks faced a strong side in Redgate Green. The team went 3-0 down in the first half despite some excellent defensive displays from Sam Uttley and man of the match, Charlie Knowles. The team fought hard and there was some good attacking play from Lewis Donoghue and Bobby Marshall. In the second half, FJSC Blacks conceded two further goals but played well. There were some moments of promise with assisted play from Thomas Donnelly and Bobby Marshall resulting in shots on target. The FJSC Blacks continue to work hard and are showing that they are a much- improved side in only their second season. On a sunny Sunday morning, FJSC Under 7 Whites welcomed Southport FC to what the boys call their home ground the Fortress. Although Formby dominated the territory in the early stages they were unable to make the possession count until later on in the half when Josh Tallon beat two players before finishing superbly and rolling the ball in the bottom corner. It proved to be the turning point. The Whites added further goals including a spectacular effort from Clayton Gilbertson, a Joshua Halpin quickfire hat trick and strikes from top scorer Mason Stringer. Thomas Crutchley was the provider of a number of goals with some fantastic assists. Joshua Tallon was man of the match for his two goals in a fantastic all-round performance.
