Formby Junior Sports Club set to begin it's 61st season
After hearing the great news at the weekend about the return of football, Formby Junior Sports can now lay out more plans and information for the start of the new season.
FJSC will begin its 61st season in early September. Date to be confirmed.
The famous Inter Club Section will be on Saturday mornings at the home of FJSC at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields and everyone from Reception up to and including Year 6 is very welcome. This includes boys and girls of all abilities whether starting football for the first time or being an already keen footballer.
FJSC prides itself on making football fun for all, being well organised with experienced and very well known voluntary helpers. One great testament to the club was in years gone by when many famous footballers including Sir Kenny Dalglish, the late Howard Kendall and Phil Neal sent their sons to FJSC. The attendance at the club of former members watching their grandchildren and sons and daughters has also been a very regular and pleasing sight for many years now.
In this day and age there are many weekend activities that children can join now. If football is the sport for you look no further than FJSC where Football and Friendship is the name of the game.
HOW TO JOIN
If you are interested in joining FJSC you can complete a membership form which can be downloaded from the Formby Junior Sports Club website under Documents. Complete the form and send to Frank Rourke at stellathecat4@gmail.com. We will let you know how much the membership fee is when a starting date is announced.
INTER CLUB FOOTBALL
At FJSC you can just play in the Inter Club section on Saturday mornings (times to be announced soon). Coaching is available and there is a game every week.
If your child would also like to play Representative team football on Sundays this may also be arranged.
There are many Inter Club groups from Reception, Year One, Two, Three, Four, Five and Year Six.
GIRLS’ FOOTBALL
FJSC has had a Girls’ Section for over twenty years and we also have a great reputation with organising Girls’ Football. Girls from Infant and Junior School age groups are welcome to join our fun new group.
POSSIBILITY FOR GIRLS’ TEAMS
If numbers and interest make it possible to form a team at any of the age groups FJSC would arrange matches with a view to joining a league perhaps later in the season. Therefore if there is a keen group of girls, perhaps from a school class or year group for instance, interested in this idea, a team could be formed in just a few weeks. Worth thinking about.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM NEWS
FJSC is delighted to announce that there will be three Under 7 teams playing in the Craven Minor League this season.
FJSC will also be quickly forming Under 6 (Year One) teams and play friendlies in preparation for the following season when they will be able to also play in the Craven Minor League. By booking a place in the Inter Club Year One group this season an Under 7 place next season will be available.
FJSC Under 8’s and FJSC Under 15’s have already begun training so if interested please contact Frank Rourke at stellathecat4@gmail.com who will put you in contact with the team managers concerned.
FJSC will also have two Under 10 teams, and one team each at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 16 all playing in the Craven Minor League as well.
COACHING OPPORTUNITIES
Any parent interested in helping in the club is asked to contact Frank Rourke (email above). If the interest is with coaching FJSC would be willing to finance the volunteer to go on a Coaching Course so that they can become involved in coaching children within the club.
General helpers at Inter Club on Saturday mornings are always welcome so again if you are interested please let the club know.
