Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report
Formby Junior Sports Club’s football scheduled for Saturday went ahead as normal but Storm Ciara made sure that all matches on Sunday were quite rightly postponed. Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 14 Whites their semi-final second leg match away at Southport Trinity. Having won the first leg 4-1 the Whites held a three-goal advantage going into the match. A very good Southport Trinity team made a determined effort and scored twice without reply. The Whites leading 4-3 on aggregate produced a brilliant rear guard action and FJSC goalkeeper Samuel Colbourne made a string of fantastic saves to ensure that his team held on to their very slender one goal lead over the two legs. It was a wonderful match with Trinity nearly pulling off a great result but full credit to FJSC Under 14 Whites. The team lost the match 2 nil but gained the reward of going through to the cup final. Their opponents will be Ormskirk Galaxy who defeated FJSC Under 14 Blacks in the other semi-final match. It should prove to be a very close cup final as the two teams hold similar positions in the league and when they played each other earlier in the season only one goal separated the two teams. See team photo above. FJSC Under 10’s played very well against Northern FC Juniors in the Spring League. The Under 10’s unfortunately missed a number of chances and the outcome was settled by a wonder goal from Northern FC. FJSC’s man of the match was Max Hall. Saturday’s FJSC’s Inter Club Section was well attended and there were some high scoring and very enjoyable matches played, as well as coaching being available for all groups.
