Residents to meet with police to discuss nuisance behaviour around Duke St Park

Concerned Formby residents will get a chance to discuss with police and council staff the problems they are having with nuisance behaviour around their homes.

Invites have been sent to homes around the Duke Street park area for a meeting on Monday Feb 10 at 7.15pm at Formby pool. The meeting is open to any members of the public who wish to attend.

The meeting has been set up by Ravenmeols councillor Nina Killen, who says residents have "had enough" of anti-social behaviour.

Cllr Killen said she'd had reports of house windows being smashed, wing mirrors removed from cars, vehicles and homes being egged, thefts, intimidating behaviour, stone-throwing, fights, fireworks aimed at cars and homes, and bins being set on fire.

This led to 20 young people being identified by police who sent letters to their homes informing their parents.

Now residents will get the chance to discuss the issues and potential solutions direct with the local police constable and sergeant, plus park rangers and anti-social behaviour officers from Sefton Council. Cllr Killen will chair the meeting where she hopes everyone will be able to have their say.

Cllr Killen said: "Problems around the park seem to have been increasing in frequency and seriousness and it is having a huge impact on the lives of people who live nearby. People should not have to put up with this unacceptable antisocial behaviour and I was pleased that the police and council staff have agreed to meet with residents to listen to the issues they're having.

"It is really important for all agencies involved to listen to what the residents have to say and I would invite anyone who is affected by this to attend the meeting at 7.15pm on Monday February 10 at Formby pool.
