Churchill Retirement Living Celebrates National Pet Month in Formby

Keeping a pet is extremely rewarding but the unseen benefits can be far greater, especially as you get older, and Churchill Retirement Living regularly sees the positive impact pet ownership has on the health and wellbeing of its Owners. That’s why, unlike some other retirement developments, Owners are welcome to bring well-behaved cats, dogs and caged birds when buying a new Churchill apartment at Trinity Lodge in Formby.

To celebrate National Pet Month this April, here’s what Churchill’s Owners across the country have said about bringing their pets with them when they moved.

·Chris Quine from Formby says: “Our Cockapoo, Temmi, has settled into apartment life very well. She needs three walks a day, and she gets me up bright and early, which keeps me active and I suppose does me good! Everybody loves her here and the other Owners often offer to take her out for walks for me, so she’s certainly a much-loved member of the new community we’ve formed since moving here.”

·Reverend Anthony Cairns from Lymington says: “Leo the Norwich Terrier is one of the friendliest dogs I’ve ever had. He’s had to adapt a little bit to the new environment, but now he’s completely settled in and we’ve formed a new routine with plenty of nice walks and things to do right on our doorstep. I think he’s much happier here than he was before, as it’s such a lovely dog-friendly town, and we’re right in the heart of things with no need to travel anywhere to enjoy a nice walk.”

·Sylvia Bunker from Berkhamsted says: “Bringing my King Charles Spaniel Milly with me has worked out beautifully. She’s been adjusting very well, she gets me up bright and early to go for a walk every day, and we’ve both enjoyed getting to know the other Owners. They love to make a fuss of her when they see her.”

·Val Down from Cirencester says: “Bringing my little dog Georgie has been no problem. She has adapted wonderfully to apartment life, and loves looking at passers-by from the balcony window. Most importantly, the Owners at the Lodge love seeing her. The animal contact is so important to many, and Georgie laps up the attention.”

Churchill’s Regional Marketing Manager Bernadette Hennelly adds: “We know that keeping a pet can reduce stress, provide companionship, and help to increase physical activity and social interaction, all of which is essential as we get older. More importantly, we know that many of our Owners simply wouldn’t contemplate leaving their furry friends behind, which is why we’re happy to celebrate responsible ownership, and everything life with a pet entails this National Pet Month.”
