Huge amounts of rubbish and an aeroplane tyre among what was collected at today's beach clean
A great turnout today with glorious weather and magnificent views to the Altcar range beach clean.
The Hightown beach clean group would like to say a big thank you to all their great volunteers who removed 32 bags of debris and mountains of driftwood and plastic drums from our beach. They had a few themed finds today, a Caribbean theme of 4 coconuts and an Australian theme with a football and boomerang!
This was all nothing compared to their unearthing of an aeroplane tyre which the crew had to investigate and is now a local landmark on the dunes. They also had their nurdle hunt which produced 350 nurdles from a small stretch of bank on the River Alt.
Thanks to Gerry for the water and biscuit refreshments during the day!
Hightwown beach clean are a group of volunteers who organise monthly clean ups at our beaches and to help our marine wildlife and make it a safer and nicer beach for everyone to use.
