Further appeal after arrest following pursuit of van in Formby

Police are again appealing for information following the pursuit of a vehicle in Formby on Friday, 28th December. Inspector Andrew Bragg said: “We would like to make a further appeal for information and we are particularly interested in any dashcam footage to help us in our investigation. “If you did witness this incident please come forward as any information no matter how small will help us in our enquiries.”

A Police chase around Formby this afternoon saw many concerned members of the public contact the Bubble. A blue van was chased around Formby roads around 2:40pm this afternoon after failing to stop for the police.
An eyewitness said they saw the Police throw a stinger across the road and the blue van hit it and crashed into an Audi that was driving along the road.
A spokesman from Merseyside Police said: "We have arrested a man following the pursuit of a vehicle in Formby this afternoon, Friday 28 December." "At around 2.40pm, a pursuit began of a VW Caddy van driving at speed in the Altcar Road area. The car was pursued at speed and brought to a stop near to the Lighthouse public house in Liverpool Road. Two police vehicles and two other cars sustained minor damage during the incident but nobody was injured." "A 21-year-old man from Formby was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence and insurance, unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and drug driving." "The man has been taken to a police station for questioning."
The pursuit finished on Liverpool Road.
One eyewitness said: "I nearly got hit by a blue van by Hillary Court when I left for work around 2:40pm. There were about four Police cars chasing the van."
Another eyewitness said: "The van just missed us travelling along Freshfield Road with Police cars in hot pursuit."
